How to buy Breezehome if Brill is naked and dead in the stre

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 5:50 am

Okay so I was just about to go about buying all the houses in Skyrim, I go to look for the steward of Whiterun and I discover Brill is randomly dead and naked in the street near the entrance to Whiterun. I have no clue how or why this has happened. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I'm on console by the way.

Does not matter, you have to speek with Proventus Avenicci, not Brill.Avenicci spend his time next to Balgruuf.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Brill

I guess you're a Stormie?

"Brill is a resident of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Whiterun, and can be found in either http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Jorrvaskr or http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dragonsreach depending on the main quest.
Brill is frequently seen in the company of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Vignar_Gray-Mane, to whom he owes a debt of gratitude for saving him from a troubled lifestyle. He sees Vignar as a father figure, and acts as his aide. Consequently, he will replace http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Proventus_Avenicci as the steward of Dragonsreach if and when the Stormcloaks conquer Whiterun, which leaves Vignar as the new Jarl. Like Avenicci, he will sell http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Breezehome once the player is named Thane."

If Brill has become the Steward and is now dead, then you probably won't be able to buy Breezehome. I'd visit the Blue Palace basemant and see if Avenicci can sell you the home, although its unlikely.

If you haven't completed the Stormcloaks Questline, then he won't be Steward and has no impact on the sale of the home.

Why is he naked? Does local Nord customs include robbing the corpses, in addition to leave them rotting in the middle of the streets?

Or maybe a naughty imperial assassin who likes to "try things out".

This is a good question. When I first started this game and ran my base out of Whiterun, I would sell all of my spare armor and weapons to Adrianne Avenicci. One day a courier came up to me to tell me she had died and left me some coin in her will. I have no idea how she died as this was before I'd done any civil war quests and I never knew this NPC to leave the hold (and possibly run into a dragon or a bear). That svcked but oh well. So I keep selling my stuff to her husband inside of their shop. One day I am selling something to him and after he turns around and does the "Oh no! How did this happen!" thing. So I go behind the counter and sure enough there is his wife - dead on the floor and only in her small-clothes. To this day, and a couple hundred hours, the body has still not de-spawned.
