How can a Khajiit be Dovahkin ?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 2:00 pm

Why would a Khajiit care about the fate of Skyrim?

Well, first of course, he's obviously living there currently. Self-preservation would motivate anyone to try to prevent a hungry dragon from devouring the world they live on.

But to go more in-depth... Elsweyr is no more. The Altmer have assassinated the Mane (basically the Khajiit's Pope, to oversimplify things) and made a coup which has split the country into two separate and feuding entities, Anequina and Pellitine. They've also managed to pull the wool over most Khajiits' eyes so they are seen as the good guys by the majority of the population, despite having taken control of their land through shenanigans and lies.

Since Cyrodiil submitted to the Thalmor's diktat after the armistice, the only places that still fight the tyranny of the high elves are Hammerfell and Skyrim.

Your Khajiit might simply be an opponent to the Thalmor's rule of terror, forced into exile, and trying to fight back against his enemies where he can. He might even dream of gathering an army of angry Nords, join up with the Redguards, and cleanse continental Tamriel from the Thalmorian corruption.

Three points in the Khajiit's favor since he's a "cat":

1. Cats don't give a rip about anything. House cat: "Tell me to stay off the bed/couch/dinner table? Nah. Don't think so."
Khajiit: "Tell me Dragonborns are supposed to be Nords/Imperials/Other? Nah. Don't think so."

2. Cats are curious. House cat: "What's that? Can I eat that? What's up on the counter? Gee, I wonder how far I can climb a tree...."
Khajiit: "Who's calling me? Greybeards? Meh. I'll get to them in my own time. But what do they want? Do they have something I can use? Hmmm...."

3. Cats are good at using their skills. House cat: "Now if I only let *her* pet me and totally ignore *him*, that's going to drive him up a wall and she'll give me treats. Win-win."
Khajiit: "Huh. I show up and you set me on a path for obtaining a great weapon that does damage *and* I don't have to muss my fur/get it bloody? Win-win."

Maybe something like the Ka Po' Tun ? You want to become a dragon like Tosh Raka by eating souls of other dragons?

yeah dont like how khajiit are completely ostersized, if it was purely the design of the game but its not there no hint of why your an exception and there doesnt appear to be any khajiit partners, seems a shame, would have liked a strong hold for each race so theres always a home for you who ever you play as.

when you fight guards, they will taunt you: "my cat looks just like you!" you can say he was hellbent on proving khajiit superiority on those brawny nords ^^

That is how i started playing with my rerolled Warrior. A Khajiit Warrior who came back to Skyrim after many years to investigate the fate of his people after hearing all the rumors, and in the process gets deeply involved in the civil war and the rest. :D

Ah, good ol' racism. Alduin is going to destroy all of Nirn. Khajiit have as good of a reason to defend it as Nords do.

If the gods pick a Khajiit so be it.

Think of him as caterwauling (sp?) on a Skyrim fence ;-). I have the same problem with mine, he's much more into being silent than he is into shouting.

I've decided to play a Khajiit and I can say I'm having a blast. He's a thief and an excellent archer, and I've been doing all kind of stuff all over Skyrim with him for the last 50 hours. However, the problem I have is that I cannot relate to the story from an RP perspective (I barely started the main story, I just killed the first dragon at the tower and went back to my thief business)...

He has no interest in this Dragon thing, and even less on the civil war going on. He just doesnt care... I'm almost thinking of starting a Nord just to do the main storyline ;)

So my question is, How could a Khajiit be Dovakhin ??? I'd like some ideas on how I could convince him to care !!!

probably the same way a Breton can be Nerevar :P

that is one of the loopholes of most of Beth's stories, with the freedom to be whatever race you want it often doesn't make sense to be any other race other than the one that best fits the main-quest.

doesn't bother me though, I'd rather have some minor hit to continuity than lose the ability to play as any race.

Well... perhaps you shouldn't force him to care. He doesn't want to.

From what I've heard it's pretty easy. The gods gave the player character the soul of a dragon. No race restrictions on what the gods decide to do. Perhaps after more dragons start appearing, he'll decide he wants to do something about all these dragon attacks once he learns he has the power to do something about it.

If I understand things, Elsweyr isn't part of the Empire anymore, and these Stormcloaks are just Nords. Ralof said "You don't have to be a Nord to fighty for Skyrim's freedom!" although it sounds like it does though. I feel really out of place as a khajiit. I had a Khajiit Paladin in Oblivion and it went well, but I have a Khajiit and it seems really out of place. You only see fellow brethren outside of towns and in caravans. It seems to be purely a human province.

even worse.
the only khajit characters in the game dont even recognize you as a khajit.

How can anyone else but the lizard-reptile-Argonian be a Dragonborn? They share the common ancestry.. bloodlines and thing. The others are just impostors.
Anyway, my advice is stay away as much as possible from the main storyline. That's what I do (even though I'm Argonian). It's a bunch of BS that's pushing my character in pre-determined direction of egotripping and I really hate that.

----

You want to have a better experience as Khajiit when killing these dragons? Just forget about dragonborn myth. When you kill a dragon and start absorbing his energies, raise hands in the air and utter: There can be only one.

There is nothing to suggest that dragons and Argonians have some common ancestry; and even if they did, they would have a common ancestor, and not have evolved from dragons, which are a continuing species with the ability to fly, rendering allopatric speciation (the most likely type for such a big change) almost impossible. If they didn't evolve FROM dragons, then there's no way they could have dragon blood.

There are winged Argonians in Black Marsh tho.

Read "the book of the dragonborn" and you will notice that you do not need to be a descendant of the Septim bloodline but a dragonborn can in fact also be someone who has been blessed by Akatosh with this powerful gift. That was how the Septim bloodline got to be dragon born in the first place.

Simply be one blessed with this gift by Akatosh. (There are at least two dragonborn in Tamriel at any time)

Edit: I mixed up Talos and Akatosh

You're right, even Nerevarine was a dragonborn.

and that proves that argonians evolved from dragons how?

Sharing characteristics does not in itself prove that one evolved from another. Besides, dragons are the direct offspring of Akatosh as far as I can tell, and no reference is made to them reproducing amongst themselves that could lead us to the conclusion of argonians evolving from within their species via sympatric speciation.

The fact that they're both lizards makes an Argonian Dovahkiin plausible to me,ancestry disconsidered.

But that's just me.

Being the Dragon-born has nothing to do with race.

It's the blessing of the god Akatosh.

Beyond that, how you decide to play it is the story you are creating for your character, regardless of what quests there are in the game.
