Get the mod Better Vampires on nexus. it should have exactly what your after. Best vampire mod out there. Combine that with Alternate Start.

Its easy I find to play a good vampire. my vampire thief only feeds on those she was forced to kill, or can do so without killing in the process. That means vampire seduction so they don't die, or bandits and so forth.

With Better vampires you can customize do people hate you, do you look like a vampire. will there be hunters after you, and so on. very in-depth.

no such thing as a non evil vampire, and no race is better than the other. but u should be a Dunmer as their ability to resist fire cancels out one of their weaknesses.

Vampires are not inherently evil. You can be a saintly vampire. Just don't parade it in front of people.

Be a morbidly depressed vampire, who is ashamed to leave the house because of his affliction. :bunny:

Play a vampire that views the affliction as something that will make him/her stronger, but must be controlled lest they succumb to it. Don't join the Volkihar, kill other vampires and undead. Try to feed on bandits and not innocents, this is much easier if you have Dawnguard because you just have to use Vampire's Seduction on them. Sybille Stentor is an example of a "good" vampire. She evens sends you to kill vampires.

You can be a good vampire. You could be someone who is just afraid to die and took the easiest route to immortality. If you decide to immerse yourelf in Harkon's court, you can justify yourself as a decent vampire by looking down upon the diseased cravens who call themselves "vampires" and prey upon unsuspecting mortals and eliminating them to avert eyes to your superior kind. Talk to Sybelle Stentor as well.

To tackle feeding, you could abstain from the cattle at Castle Volkihar and opt to be a combat feeder; those who fall in battle are fair prey. When you get hungry, become an arm of the law. No one asks questions about renegade bandits and the cause of their death, other than to ask if the deed was done and no one will miss them. Everybody wins.

I'm playing a non evil Vampyromancer myself and this is basically what I do. I originally started by getting the disease, and then got curious by Harkon's power. My power comes in handy the most against other undead, anyways. Many a times I run out of magicka dealing with high leveled draugr bosses, draugr swarms and dragon priests that I embrace my undead nature and fight back. I suppose Harkon meant "You'll never fear death a-gain" in more than one way.

There are such things as non evil vampires, serana and her mother are good examples. They are all still sentient beings capable of making choices of right and wrong.

I would probably employ a follower, imagine that I had asked their permission to feed from them (one thing that IMO is missing from BV) and use them as a food source, giving them special treasures now and then as reward for their service. BV does make it quite simple to feed from followers, I think it lets you get them to lie down wherever you are and then feed from them, but I don't think it actually has a dialogue option to ask if it's okay to do this, to avoid feeding from unsuspecting townsfolk, yadda yadda. I guess it would probably involve giving them an unvoiced/subtitled response option, which I know some people dislike, but I think it would be good to have the choice.

Again, as stated above, Serana and Valerica are not evil. Don't assume that just because someone is a vampire that they're evil.

Don't be a vampire, turn off your PC / console, rethink your life, get Dawnguard, and kill off all the Volkihar vampires.

Actually, biting someone and leaving him alive doesn't exactly make you a nice person from a role playing perspective. :P In "real world" Tamriel they would eventually die and turn into a vampire because of your bite unless cured. It would also certainly raise questions. :P But I guess this is arguable since in Skyrim the only way to spread the disease is via life drain. In past games something as much as a scratch was enough to transfer the disease so I imagine biting and feedind off of someone would definitely transfer it.

It's not about the hand your dealt, it's all in how you play your cards. The same way the Companions are still honorable warriors. Aela's quote still applies to vampirism. It means nothing until you choose to use it.

Not to mention Brad Pitt's character Louis from Interview With a Vampire. Not evil. Lady Renly's response is spot on. You deal with the situation to the best to your abilities.

In my opinion it's similar to Werewolves - I think having full control over your hunger is just a gameplay mechanic. And having the next bad guy you could somewhat justify feeding on him just a few minutes away is also just a gameplay mechanic.

I don't believe being a vampire means nothing until you choose to use it - you thirst for blood. Your thirst is always in your mind, constantly whispering to you, influencing you, waiting to take over.

By what metric are they not evil, or even not good? Serena just comes off as a whiny teenager with issues, and Valerica not wanting to blanket the world in night doesn't mean she's not evil. There's such a thing as pragmatic villainy, after all.

Edit - forgot to include the quote I was replying to: "I don't believe being a vampire means nothing until you choose to use it - you thirst for blood. Your thirst is always in your mind, constantly whispering to you, influencing you, waiting to take over."

Right, but (unless you actively sought out vampirism, I suppose, which my last vampire character totally did) that's not *you* per se, it's the disease, corrupting you. If you have the strength of character to restrict your bloodlust to those who 'deserve' it* then that's very different to a vampire who creeps around towns at night, feeding off unsuspecting shopkeepers and the like.

*or those who consent, which isn't really in the game, but could probably be modded in as I've described above, although I imagine the mod would be set up so they always do consent, it would be really interesting if it could be set up either so only certain followers would consent (with no way of knowing beforehand), or a given follower would consent or not based on a random factor or something.

Uhm... Give your enemies and prey a swift death instead of torturing them beforehand. Why would you want to skip the opportunity of enjoying yourself is beyond me however.
