How can Skyrim look this good?

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 11:58 am

I am sure most of you have questioned this, but Skyrim just looks too good on the 360.I still cannot believe this.

How did they even manage to make it look like this?

It easily blows FO3 away, and its the same console doing it!!I am sure it has something to do with the art direction they went with(like Borderlands),otherwise it is just impossible.Plus its only 1 disc.Wow!!

Just wait for the PC version and High res texture mods. It will eviscerate the 360 then kicks it ashes skywards, then collect with a butterfly net, combine them together, make toast (very very very burnt toast.), and eat it for health regeneration.

P.S. No offence to the 360 or anything.

Wow it only took 2 minutes for a "Pc kicks 360's ass" reply. That's got to be new.

BF3 is another game that looks ridiculously good, but the gameplay suffers from it. Don't think skyrim will have that issue, but adding in breeze effects and "wash" from a fireball explosion would be heaven.

It looks good on consoles, so by default, it will look great on PC's. All that due to talent and hard work.

Then the modders get ahold of it, and poof, the game looks magnitudes better....

I always felt that Fallout 3 and Oblivion were graphically sub-standard for their console generation. Skyrim merely removes the gap between it and other games of this generation.

The one disk is what I find amazing. It's a bloody DVD. Wasn't la noire on 25 disks for xbox.. I just hope that it's not 30 minutes of the game looking good and the rest modled like super Mario 2.

No they've copied Dragon Age 2 mapping technique. They've done few maps and then copy pasted them all over just adding some snow to here and there. In fact you've already seen all the maps in the demo :frog:
(PS: I'm obviously joking for those who did not get it)

IBioware should be ashamed for that abomination called DA2. Thankfully there are apparently 150 handcrafted dungeons in skyrim, and hopefully not of the random stone in this one doorway type.

Here's to hoping those graphics don't cause any problems with the consoles.

You do realize though that the vast majority of video games don't have really amazing graphics.

The 360 stuff does look pretty good…I mean let’s be realistic here, the 360 is working with 6 year old hardware. Actually I think is more than 6 years, but whatever, you guys get the point. In order to get this kind of fidelity out of a completely outdated system like the 360 is pure magic. These boys are freaking magicians.

There are two primary reasons why I’m still a pc gamer. 1) Cannot stand to play almost anything with those two f*cking things they call thumb stick. Once you get used to playing with the precision that a mouse can offer there really is no going back. Just being honest here. The only reason why I own a 360 is for exclusives. For instance, Red Dead Redemption did not make it to the pc and I had no choice but to pick it up for the console. To great of a game to pass. 2) Graphics and hardware. Before any of you say it I already agree, keeping your pc up to date can sometimes get expensive, but if I have the means I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I think graphical fidelity is pretty undeniably measurable for a digital medium such as games.

From a technical perspective, sure, but the person quoted said that Skyrim was the 'best looking' game they'd seen. 'Good looking' is an inherently subjective trait.
