How to capture gamepad input from within custom Flash UI?

Hello.

I'm following the SkyUI source code to try and learn how to build a custom UI widget. So far, I am able to successfully load a custom built swf and call functions within it via Papyrus. However, I'm stuck at understanding how to capture input from the gamepad within the Flash.

I could use Papyrus to capture gamepad events and then trigger functions within the Flash. But, I read a note in the SkyUI code that suggests that the input can be taken directly in Flash via SKSE. That seems like it would be the more efficient approach if I can learn how to implement it.

Any advice, links, explanations, examples that anyone can offer regarding how to capture gamepad input within loaded Flash UI elements would be greatly appreciated!
