Well i married Lydia and shes wearing armor and a shield , and i was wondering if there is a way to make her wear normal clothing? im playing on the xbox BTW

There is no way to change someone's clothing on a console.

Yes, since she's a follower, there's a workaround.

1. Tell her to follow you and trade things: give her better heavy armor than her default steel. Steel plate or better.
2. What have you got for sale: buy her default gear. Let her keep one piece, for instance her boots, or she will revert back immediately.
3. Trade things: take away the good armor and give her whatever you want her to wear. If you don't want her to be fully armed at home, you can give her a dagger and take her sword and shield - if you only take her weapons and don't give her anything else she'll equip her bow (slight disclaimer, I don't know if you can access the housecarls' default weapons as you can with other followers).

When she no longer following you, she might revert back to default, or decide to go naked. The system isn't flawless
