How do I change this glass texture?

Post » Tue Jan 25, 2011 11:12 pm

How do I make the glass on the left cabinet transparent instead of green, like the one on the right?

I looked at the clear one in NifSkope and it wasn't even using a texture. So I'm kinda stumped here.

You tried with model's material property? Maybe the color there is set up to green.

From the readme.

Hello

Here is yet another display case. This one should match display case 4 pretty good.

But anyhow. Textures are saved within the .nif files. 5 is the main nif, 5a is the "glass case".

So thats the reason it "seems" to not have any texture. But simply http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/Random%20Stuff/imageofdisplaycases.jpg turns out pretty nicely.

How did you do that? I could ask you to upload it for me but I want to learn how to do it too. I'm in NifSkope. Where do I click from here: http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/8549/23568684.jpg

Now just click on that little purple flower next to "pe_glass_clear" it'll pop up with a prompt to select a new texture. Go to your MW texture directory (probably on your CD) and select tx_window_pane. You shouldn't need to repeat the process for the other door or whatever as they are probably linked.

I also edited the UV in my screenshot because otherwise that texture gives a funny dark line through the center of the door. Do you know how to edit the UV in nifskope?

Sweet, I got it to work. But you're right, there are dark lines down the middle. And why do the glass horizontal shelves disappear at certain angles? As seen in my picture:

I'm not too clear on understanding what UVs are or about editing them. I mean, I'm in the UV editor but I really have no clue what that window pane is for or what I can do with it.

I'm not an expert with alpha, I messed around with it a little. But I'm really not sure on this....

CALLING SOMEONE WHO'S GOOD WITH ALPHAS!!!!!

With this UV it's fairly simple. The UV map is just using a rectangle. So select one side of the rectangle and drag it over 'til it only includes one copy of the texture. Do you see what I'm saying?

Thanks. I shortened the UV and got rid of the lines. I guess those shelves disappearing is something we'll have to deal with unless someone knows how to fix it.

Um... I'm not sure how the cabinet is set up as in if you can change the alpha of the doors versus the shelves - I've had alpha fighting problems when making clothes that layer on top of each other and have had to reset my alpha flags to something like 4333 - you could try that and see if it helps - remember to write down the original alpha flag number before changing in case you need to revert - or make a backup
