So in my settlement I have a couple of vendors going all of which are assigned with people and working properly. I noticed that before placing a vendor, it says at the top that the vendor will earn myself some caps as well as make people happy. So I'm wondering how exactly do I go about collecting these caps exactly?

the caps should end up in the workshop.

I'm not seeing it anywhere? No caps to be seen anywhere. I scrolled through everything I had but couldn't find anything. My settlement is the first one when you come straight out of the vault.

In the actual workshop object, the one you use to actually build in the settlement, select Transfer. If you have earned caps, they will be in there, I think under Miscellaneous. If they are not there, they haven't been earned yet.
