how come no gumpowder in Elder Scrolls yet?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:05 am

Please for the love of god no, don't turn this into World of Warcraft, first they start with guns, then before you know it you got steam powered motorcycles and helicopters and teleporters, before you know it the game loses all credibility. I like Elder Scrolls cause its one of the few games that sticks true to its authentic medieval theme, with the exception of magic of course, it wouldn't be an RPG without wizards :D

There are fictional worlds where technological advancement just doesn't happen, namely Middle-earth. What kind of technological advancement happened in about 6500+ years in Middle-earth?

Edit: And please, no guns.

before they invent guns they'd have to invent spears and medium armor. no progress is being made in mastering the complex spear engineering.

yeah like I keep saying not every character uses magic do they?

If you don't want to use magic or bows (with enchantments etc) why would you want to use guns? Because you like how they sound?

That has nothing to do with the great thinkers of any age in this game the Dwemer the greatest builders and inventors in the entire game world never discovered any means to forge any form of gunpowder. They was the most advanced civilization in history. If they could not find it how could anybody else. The means simply does not exist. You are overlooking all great points in this thread with your only argument, "Not every body uses magic.".

Ugh.

The ingredients of black powder are essentially charcoal and sulfur, and some more modern ones have metal powders like aluminum or iron. Fireworks have other powders like magnesium or zinc to add flare and color.

We know that tamriel has iron and charcoal. So why haven't they made the step to adding sulfure? I submit it is because there isn't any. There's no reason to suspect that Tamriel's physical chemistry is the same as Earth's, especially when you look at how the world was created in TES Lore.

Every person in TES is born with magical power. Some more than others, but everyone does.

they should at least some kind of new technology for the game, some kind of early musket weapon or something. People don't use swords and arrows forever. It would show that the world is slowly growing up. It's kinda weird that the game takes 200 years after the last one but the world hasn't changed any. I'm not really sure how much time passed between games because it's rarely talked about

When you are developing your own fantasy world, game and lore, you can do whatever you want. ES is what it is. Can you not expand your imagination?

Closing thread for review.

And folks, we do warn for randomly accusing people of being a troll - because most people do it when they simply don't like another person's point of view. Which is a lame tactic.
