Like, I don't see a thief using DRAGONSCALE armor, or an assassin for that matter. I understand it is Light armor, but isn't something like scaled or hide armor more viking warrior type? And they are light armor.

Ive asked peoples opinions on armors before, and they say that Dragonscale isn't very "warrior" type, or any light armor for that matter. I'm just curious why.
just because its light, look at what its made from?
If you were a thief would you want to wear something light, quiet and not bulky? Or would you rather sneak around wearing armor made of and covered with bones which are not silent, are bulky and probably not light despite what the stats say?
IMO anything steel, orc, dwarven, ebony, daedric and dragonbone are warrior type armors.
Dragonscale is a fine armor to use in battle and is probably better than what anyone else is wearing. You don't look as big or intimidating as with dragonbone or daedric armor, but you're just as dangerous.
I guess if there is a difference it's that the benefit of the armor is improved mobility, rather than being a damage sponge. Even at the armor cap, you don't get perks like Reflect Blows
I see. What are you saying Resident, that Dragonscale is more suited for thieves? I understand wearing the heavy armors is silly for thieves/assassins(silent) but just curious what you mean. I just think that with an armor that provides it's own shield as well, it would be fitting for a warrior/fighter type. Someone who uses a sword and shield.
nah I'm saying from an RP perspective, anything with metal or bone/scale plating is going to be noisy and not suited for a thief. Imagine trying to break into a real house wearing dragon scale armor? Now imagine breaking into a house wearing something light and of material that does not make noise when making contact with itself.
Ahh ok. So you would agree then that Dragonscale is suited more for a fighter type?
yes. Maybe I didn't make myself clear but I consider steel, dwarven, orc, ebony, daedric and dragonbone/scale armor to all be better suited for a warrior type character. not a sneaky thief. leather, hide, fur... much better for a thief type character.
For the TC, let's look at Stahlrim gear for a sec: if someone is wearing a light version are they less warrior like than the heavier version?
Honestly, I think all gears basically say badass except Thieves Guild, Nightengale, and Dark Brother Hood Armors than even Fur. Yes bandits tend to wear Fur/Hide wear but are they "sneaky"?
Bottom line, Dragonscale looks more badass than even Dwarven, Orchish, and Steel/Iron wear. Looks better than the "Companions" gear to be honest. Why? How many can claim to take 1 dragon versus tens to hundreds dragons? *in a true New York City folk tone* THINK ABOUT IT!
People think that warrior = tanking and thief = light armor. A lot of people who roleplay do that, and it's kinda weird reasoning, as, for example, thief wouldn't wear light armor because a thief needs no armor to begin with. He goes in, steals, goes out, job done. Thief doesn't fight. Assassin is someone who slits throats, poisons people, snipes them with crossbows etc. An assassin does not do close combat. He eliminates and leaves. Someone who plays an assassin using daggers and light armor but then goes in and starts fighting 3 bandits/guards/whatever does not play an assassin, just a mindless warrior using very wrong tools.
All this being said, yeah, I think dragonscale armor (and few other light armors for that matter) definitely relate more to warrior-type classes than any other.
Came in here to say exactly this.
You'd think heavy armors would have more penalties and light armor (mail, specifically) would be more optimal for fighter-types that are constantly on the move (i.e. A lot of us who play this game).
