How come my settlers won't go to my new built houses around?

Post » Tue Mar 22, 2016 11:34 am

As the topic says. I've built another two houses next to the main default one in Commonwealth, but they seem to just hang around the main one. The new buildings have beds and electricity too.

And the second question would be, how do I tell them what to do? E.g. go guard the main gate?

Man, fallout is hard.

Thanks in advance!

One thing you can do is place a scavenger station in or near the building you want them to go to. They'll walk back to it a few times a day if you assign someone to the station.

They also tend to gather near bars after work.

Not sure what platform you're on but, highlight settler, press activate, highlight what you want them to do, press activate.

Each settler can farm 6 food production, and guards will cover 3 posts

Thanks. I'm on PC. How do I highlight the settler then?

Open the workship and point the cursor at them. Hitting 'e' will select them. Then run around and click on what you want them to do.

You can also assign settlers to beds :)

You will need to have built a Guard Post, there are two different ones in the Defense section of the build screen.

Now (as stated above) point your cursor at a settler and press E to select them, now run to your Guard Post, look at it till it highlights and press E again. That should 'assign' your settler to that post.

You settler will now perform guard duties and can cover more than one guard post.

EDIT: with regard to your house problem, is the doorway close to the ground? If your house is elevated in any way you may have to put steps or a ladder so they can enter.

I used one house as a "hospital" type building with beds. This way looks like theyre using them/actually sick lol. I assigned the doctor to the main bed and added a "waiting" room.

I find the larger settlements let people walk around a lot more so you wont see them much where you want them unless you assign them to the beds and stuff. Even then though..

I also try and set up my "bar/restaurant" near the middle to it looks like people are actually going to it.

They also look like theyre going somewhere/to their beds/homes when its late night, so seems slightly more realistic lol.
