Soldier:

You can resupply your ammo and your team's

You can blow up objectives (And are sometimes required to do so)

You have molotovs, a better grenade.

You can have flashbangs.

You can start with a Kevlar Vest.

You can have bigger magazines than everybody else.

You can improve your explosives damage.

You can improve your Explosives area of effect.

You can provide Armor Piercing ammo to the team and yourself

You can use Scatchel Charges (Remote detonated C4) and nobody else can.

You can pick supplies off dead bodies.

==With your abilities set up the right way and the fact that you have access to two grenades on seperate timers and the ability to enhance them, you can be pretty frickan heavy on the amount of explosives being thrown in the other team's direction.==

When buffed by Medic(s) and or Engineer(s) you have the most potential for destruction.

never read anywhere they can have a bigger magazine. Link?

My bad it's "More magazines"

I'm going by the Brink wiki.

Aparantly they can have "more grenades" too. I'm assuming that means a shorter timer for them to recharge.

I think the solider may have more combat abilities which is what Brink is trying not to advertise, they want to make Brink look different than the famous FPS's like cod and halo. Personally I think the solider will be used to power through and take command posts so their abilities may be more generic and, as stated earlier, combat oriented.

Between health regen and unlimited ammo, a soldier can keep up the hail of gunfire indefinitely. They're the main push type class in the game. Sure, a whole brigade of medics might be hard to keep down, but with the ammo counts and TTKs in Brink, chances are good most players will be desperate to have a CP or preferably a soldier nearby.

I plan to main a soldier, but I'll definitely hit up the Engineer and Medic as needed. However, I'll miss my infinite ammo while doing so. I like to full auto :gun:

I'd also like to point out that just because he's called " the soldier" doesn't mean he's the only combat class, each class can go into the firefight and deal damage, they all have access to the same guns, only the soldier has a few interesting tools at his disposal such as Molotov's.
All classes should be killing, just some people like the medic will have some other priorities as well.
Medic = healing and killing.
Operative = Hacking and killing.
Engineer = repairing, building and killing.
Soldier = blowing up things and killing.
each class has objectives but each also has a certain combat bonus as well (revival, disguise, Molotov and turret/mine)
So I expect everyone to do their part.

Imo, soldier is the generic class just like in an mmo you got a troller healer and a tank with the 4th class being a dps which everyone can be.

Soldiers will be pretty tough but I plan to main one. Sure a Soldier is generic and is more of a frontline fighter we gotta have some sort of cannon fodder while the engineers and operatives are at work backstage with their turrets and hacking and such. Medics won't really be on the front lines, or they shouldn't be >.> So someone's gotta be the Soldier.. :toughninja:

The other classes are more support based, so it just seems like they have more "abilities". Soldiers are more focused on killing stuff, so their skill base isn't going to be very broad. Don't worry about it. It's not like people aren't going to play Soldier. They're going to play it way too much, just like in other games.

IN other words, SD knows EVERYONE would want to play a soldier, so they had to show off the other... traditionally less appealing classes more.

I think that plan back fired in a way that now the general concepetion is that soldiers are just regular grunts that have nothing special about them, which is sure to lead to an early shortage of the explosive loving monsters :hubbahubba:

I think it was a mistake thinking that without seeing the goods anybody would "want to play a soldier", since it's body type and weapon choice that defines your combat role, class defines how you function on the team.

The basic demonstrations of the classes have been "Engineers get toys, Ops get toys, Medics get XP, soldiers get...well they get to stand there and plant bombs while being shot in the back."

I'm going soldier with my first, but they've been doing a dandy job of selling the other classes more.

I know it's a team based game and all....

And you're going to see pleanty of Light Operatives, likely players who want to ignore the team aspect and do thier own thing.

What I don't think people realize is Soldier is the class that packs the most punch. You WILL get the most kills with this class, between spaming nades, molotovs and using your guns. You can get back both supplies and ammo on your own.

Make a medium Soldier, you'll see. He will be the king of the ring. "Selfish playstyle" or "Teamplay". The other class abilities fall along more specialized roles.

And yes, you'll die alot too.

Everyone else does. If you are a PC player send me an FPM. I'm looking for an organized team to play with. (Or going to make one)

I have the feeling my first week of Brink is going to be flying around pubservers until I can find a clan that uses some kind of voice chat.
