How come there isn't an option to donate for every mod?

I think that statement would not be accurate since it was more than a few people.

I think the word some would fit better

It's possible that the mod author can't make a PayPal account for whatever reason, and is thus unable to accept donations. I had tried making one while I was in the Army and was having trouble because I was stationed in one state and my bank was in a different one.

I believe it - especially with an international community of authors!

Given everything that's been stated in this discussion, it looks like there are a variety of reasons (banking technicalities, taxes, personal preference) why an author would choose not to accept donations.

For the authors that do accept donations - I say hooray! :goodjob: I think you deserve to benefit from you work and the kindness of sharing it. You have no obligation to distribute your work for free, yet you do and hundreds of thousands of players benefit.

To the players - I encourage you to support the authors. Endorse their mods, but try also to contribute money. The amount is up to you (of course!) but I believe there's no reason to think donating freely to mod authors weakens modding or lays the foundation for a commercialized system. That's a different issue which has nothing to do with the direct voluntary support of authors by players.

We have an amazing system and a wonderful game so do your best to contribute.

It seems odd to me to consider the act of being willing to accept donations as being praiseworthy. Mind you I don't consider it condemnation worthy either, and I would be against anyone who did. I just don't get what is virtuous about being willing to take money.

Edit- As an aside I'd like to remind you all that the offer I made http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1601846-professional-video-editor-willing-to-create-videos-for-you/ still stands. Kind of surprised that only one person has taken me up on that offer since I posted that thread. Hoping that isn't meant as a vote of no-confidence in my abilities. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etH6-aN0eX4&feature=youtu.be is the one mod trailer I've been asked to make thus far.
