How to copy save files from Xbox 360 to PC?

Post » Tue May 24, 2016 5:49 pm

Hello all - my apologies in advance if the answer to my question is already pinned someplace. I'm sure it comes up regularly.

I found https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0-0uh0oQ_w for copying save files from an Xbox 360 to PC using a USB and Modio but it didn't work. I can't help but notice that the Skyrim Saves folder has two files for each save - a .skse file and a .ess file. The video instructions only result in a .ess file in that directory. Maybe the .skse is auto-generated after the .ess is opened? Don't know, 'cause Skyrim only shows the files that were saved directly on the PC, not the one that I transferred.

Any pointer, tips or other help would be much appreciated!

I do not know if we are allowed to talk about this.

Do you have SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender) installed if so that is likely where it got that file from. Likely Skse needs to make adjustments to the character file due to the extra scripts that SKSE adds.

.SKSE is required for the script extender. It saves extended data for SKSE that wouldn't go in the ordinary save file. WIthout SKSE, you would only have the original .ess files.

So you have the .skse files on your PC because you are using the script extender.
