How could FONV have been more real ?

Post » Tue Oct 06, 2009 9:13 am

Ok so I know there's hard core mode but it still didn't quiet do it for me so here 's what I am thinking .

1. the time is equal to 1 to 1 one minute real time is one minute game time .

2 you must drink water ever day or die and after 12 hrs you get permanently dizzy till you do drink . The same goes for food every three days .

3. I would remove 95 % of all food in the game to make it harder to find

4. I would remove 99% of all ammo in the game because in 200 years PA in the future they are not going to have the ability to make modern gun powder , primers , casings ,and bullets at best they will have flint lock style black powder type weapons and bows, cross bows, and spears , that 's it other than mele weapons and perhaps homemade flame throwers .

5. Clothes would be harder to find Only found on other humans and shoes would be the number one item needed

6. weather would affect you cold hot rain you would have to shelter and sleep ( you could compress time )

7. More cannibals lots more lots and lots more .

8. The ability to make weapons and gear would be vital like cutting enemy arrows shot from a bow and making them cross bow arrows giant rad scorpion armor

9 .Dark should be dark a building should have power unless it's got a power source . the middle of the desert should be dark and to dangerous to cross at night even with a flashlight .

10 If New Vegas was missed by the bombs why then is everything around it exactly the same as ground zero Washington DC ? all water should not be irradiated.

So what do you think how could NV be more realistic ?

Not a bad start but I'd start with:
  • Time doesn't freeze while you change guns, ammo or clothes

You can make the game mote realistic for you by limiting yourself.

A lot of those things would fit if it wasnt 200 years after, civilization has begun to rebuild, people make clothes, guns, food, ammo. It used to be rare, but not so much anymore.

Lets look at the problem with this.

1.It would take forever to wait and so on.

2.That makes sense

3.Like WTF!.

4. . they would learn how to make it. Gun runners for example. You should really think before you type stuff down.

5.There would be clothes everywhere. In dressers, Closets, Stores and etc.

6.You dont have to get shelter just because it rains...

7. People can still be civil and human. They can make there own food...

8.Theres tons of armor just laying around and on People.

9.Like that idea.

10. Debatable.

Yeah, guns are actually being made now.

I'm not sure about energy weapons though... Do the Van Graffs actually make them, or just scavenge them?

Actually, you wouldn't die from thirst for at least 3 days and from starvation for a few months.

As lots of you suggestion is more toward 2 years later, not 200.

Yah but the average person can only live 4-6 weeks without Food and a week at most with out water in there also. It also depends on how fat the person is.

Gun Runners used to make them, it is heavily let on that the Van Graffs are the ones who attacked GR EW Caravans, since they have a limited stock in poor condition, they dont even know how to repair them.

not ''at least 3 days'', 3 days is the maximum you can do without water. (I learned that from watching Man vs. Wild)

7. Flaming is not allowed.

Insulting individuals or groups of members and name calling are flames. Any remark that is made to insult another member or group of members will be considered a flame and thus you may receive a warning for it.
Calling people a troll or an apologist for instance can both be considered a flame as can calling someone stupid or ADD. Attacking Xbox players, PS3 players or PC players is not allowed and calling them "console kiddies" or in anyway indicating someone is in some way a lesser person because of their choice is considered a flame here.

I kind of want to hear more about this story, sounds interesting.

But yeah, I think 3 days without water in New Vegas kills you anyway, and I'm not sure for food, it may be less than 3 weeks. The H/T/S values are fine IMO, I just don't get the mods that make them "10x faster OMG SO BR00TAL", that's just ridiculous.

And yes, Gun Runners manufacture weapons and ammo. Those are in circulation, raiders get them because they kill people who got them from stores or from looting, so the weaponry is plausible. Things are ruined because a couple nukes got through to the Mojave, and there has been 2 years of disrepair for a lot of places. A 1 to 1 timescale is silly, and it makes the passage of time absolutely unbelievable. The scale is off as it is, it should take a good day of traveling to get from Goodsprings to Primm in real life, and having 2 minutes of in-game time take place for that is insane.

The game could be more realistic, but I think close to nothing you listed would make it any more realistic.

I don't think he was saying it offensively, I think he just meant you should try it out and report your findings.

I am certainly not lying, just dont remember it too well, that is the thing, it was so monotonous, the only thing to see in damn near every direction was rocks and trees, nothing stood out, it was draining.

wait, it was a joke? don't make any more jokes because they're so bad I don't even notice that they're meant as jokes, and that leads to confusing situations, like this one! :)
but seriously though, I'm going to tell a friend of mine he should kill himself, and we'll both have a laugh!
