How do I create a weapon?

Hi everyone,

I've always thought the grummite shield would make a pretty cool weapon and yesterday decided to try and make it one.

So i entered the construction set and created the new ID, base values all that no problem.

My trouble is with the meshes/texture. I found the grummite shield textures and meshes in the .BSA and copied them out and applied the mesh and icon to the mesh and icon slot in the form ID.

However when I went to test them in game, whilst the static model and icons appear, when I equipted the weapon no model appears on my hand, so it's just an empty fist, although it does register damage on npcs and when they're killed sends them flying (quite amusingly, which isn't the problem) would it be possible to have both the grummite shield, both in weapon and shield form equipped at the same time?

So how do I make the model appear when my character equipts the weapon?

The shield is set in the model to be wielded as a shield, and it will take some editing of the model itself to be used in some other way (such as a weapon).

If you know how to model already or you're ready to try, here's http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Category:Modeling_Tutorials at the CS Wiki. It may be that someone else here knows a quick way to do it and will post about it, also.
