How to deal with light operatives

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:26 am

If you really want t be an anti-operative, then I agree with Mad Hatter, Heavy operatives on defense will give them a headache. All of their information gathering abilities, an immunity to disguises, the best weapons, high health, and movement isn't that important on defense.

I'm not against them I just believe there will be too many of them and they won't help the team.If by chance I go into a game and there's tons of em then I'll take Wraith's advice:face palm and leave.

I just hope this won't end up like Cod where people see someone play with a certain class and all stick to it even though they are terrible with it

I just hope this won't end up like Cod where people whine about people playing the class they want to play.

Oh wait, thats allrdy started..

Honestly this topic serves no purpose other then to alienate the people who do choose to play as Operatives..

No offense gimp, but your topics generally anoy me, for once I wish you would just open a topic about flowers and kittens.

Basically, every class/size combination will be effective in the right hands.

Best way to counter a skilled Light Operative?

Be better at your chosen Class/size combination than he is at his.

Exactly what I was thinking but couldn't think how to word effectively haha.

I mean in MAG it got to the point where I was hard-scoping AR/LMG users at close/mid range, with a .50 cal sniper rifle on lowest possible zoom. It took hours of practice, but with enough practice, anything's possible really.

Honestly if they play like idiots they will get killed over and over again until they learn to play smart. I have plenty of good reasons for wanting to play light operative. If this wave does appear I'd imagine it will be short lived. Consider I have seen this thread like a dozen times I ask this, does this really worry you that much?

Say you jump into a game where all your teammates are light operatives, just facepalm and leave. How to deal with them, you will by just playing the game.

How what you need to be worried about are those heavy medics.

Got to agree with everything posted here. When I heard about the classes operative was the last class i considered, which is probably cause I played tfc so a sneaky guy that can disguise was nothing new to me, granted there is more to a good spy than that lol. But thats the point, not everyone is going to be as good at this game as others, not as smart, not as accurate etc. If someone goes operative cause they picture themselves as some sneaky devil and they are not playing smart then they are going to get destroyed, especially if they come up against a good opponent. Like Wraith said I wouldnt worry too much about it.

If I'm your medic you aren't getting revived then, lol. TK'ing in Halo: Reach was annoying enough. I don't ever care to experience it again.

The best way to spot disguises in ETQW was to watch peoples behavior. Disguises in Brink like ETQW will be lost if they shoot. If for example you see a teammate acting strange in the situatiion i.e. Running away from the enemy and running towards your side of the map, not shooting, just sat in a corner, trying to get to close to you etc then its most likely an operative in disguise. Also I think the body type plays some part. If you see a Heavy sprinting like a light or vaulting around the map then its a disguise lol!.

A bullet in the leg also worked in ETQW if you were playing medic because you could just throw them a pack, hp regens in Brink so I think everybody could get away with this, I suppose I'll just have to be careful with my Minigun :gun:
There is always VOIP as well, wont work on PUB but if playing with friends/clan mates its very useful. There lots of ways to stop operatives!

I havent seen how they show if someone is talking over the mic, like an exclamation mark over the player, or none at all?

That's what you usually do in TF2 at least. If you see it, he's on your team, if not, spycheck.

So, how is it in Brink?

I wouldn't think so, other wise what's the point of having the engie be able to disarm them other than exp?

In another post someone said mines only go off when you step OUT of them, so if you step on a mine and stay still, it wouldn't explode and a friendly engie could come along and disable it.

Look at the behaviour. The spy in TF2 was always quite easy to pick out from a crowd because of this, however; what helped the fit into the flow was their ability to go invisible, meaning the could appear whenever they wanted to. Given that the operative will not have this ability, it means that he will most likely try to get his kill fast if he is among a group of enemies. Therefore, you might want to try and melee suspicious friendlies whenever you have the chance.

I see the disguise is more a way to get behind enemy lines not to hide in plain sight.

Honestly I believe that when people cap lvl 7 there will be entire teams of them.

Who cares.

If there's entire teams of light operatives if you have even half a team of medium soldiers (who know how to play video games), they are dead. Light operatives only have very light weapons.
