How did Allen Marks die? : Fallout: New Vegas

According to the recording he suffocated after, somehow, getting trapped in the Sunset Sarsaparilla Headquarters vault. Which makes no sense because you must acquire a key to the vault to enter it in the first place. And why would the door close and lock itself?

The physical evidence is that he shot himself in the head with Pew Pew, the unique laser gun. Possibly because he felt guilty about killing all those people for a worthless "treasure". But if that was the case why are there blood stains on the wall and floor under his body? A laser would cauterize any wound it inflicted, preventing any blood loss.

So, what really happened to Allen Marks?

I guess story wise, the Sunset Sarsaprilla company had a sort of 'lock door' timer on the doors, and he wasnt out in time. Perhaps the room is airtight to prevent dust from getting in?

I can buy the suffocation theory but that still doesn't explain the blood stains, positioning of the body, or the fact that his pistol was laying beside him on the ground.

maby he was injured by something or someone else just befor entering the vault and with his dieing breath recorded that holotape.

There's a vaporized robot on the way to the vault, IIRC, and some notes about a break in on one of the computers. I think he was injured fighting the securitrons. He may have locked himself in the vault.

I allways wondered too tbh.

I never gave the lack of air idea any thought, it would be a very reasonable answer.
As could getting injured on the way in.
I thought shooting himself after days being locked in was the most likely.

All I know is that it was a tale of looking after your mother, not trusting old strangers, listen to robot heads offering wishes and staying at home...
Just like the wizard of oz but with robo dogs.
If only was not such a stubborn lad I could learn these life leasons.

Actualy if an energy weapon does enough damage in a hit but DOESNT crit it can blow the head to bits.

I saw lots of evidence of fighting (ash piles and such), so he was probably injured when he reached the vault door. And it is a vault door. My guess is he closed it, and locked himself in. On the outside is a control panel. I saw nothing on the inside. As such, he ran out of air because he couldn't reopen the vault door. His head didnt look like it had any wounds.

Considering I get in the room by dropping in through a hole in the ceiling, I'm not really buying the suffocation idea. Not enough blood for him to have bled to death, so my guess is shock. You know, what you're always supposed to treat someone who's injured for? Then again, he could've had internal injuries we can't see - internal bleeding, fractured skull, things like that.

Yurgh. A satisfyingly grim and ugly death; just what he deserved. More gut wrenching stories from the wasteland. :fallout: As Moira once said, "That's horrible! You're horrible! Oh, Everything's just Horrible!"

Since he says he's suffocating, I assumed the vault was well sealed and the ceiling gave way later. Maybe he had a go at cutting an escape hole --or even an air hole-- in the ceiling with his Laser, so it was weakened enough to collapse later?

He got injured fighting security, locked himself inside the airtight vault to get away from the security and died from suffocation after making a recording.

Not joking here, the maintainance Mr Handy is psychotic.
The one you can wake up and get to collect a ton of caps for you, is a tad complusive and pushy as most tend to be.

Really the running theory I have now, is that the great war was caused when...

A Handy had a break down over some spilled sesame seeds in the war room, and he hacked the big red button to clean up the mess.

I think he closed it without realizing the door couldn't be opened from the inside (automatically locks on closing). He was probably too weak from his injuries to force the door open, and his pistol wasn't strong enough to blow it open or punch holes in it for air. He probably closed it to keep robots out so he could rest up. Might have to take a trip back there and see what happens if I close the door behind me. However, as I got permission to get a prize the door may be set to unlocked. I'll be sure to save before I do that.
