How did Big Mountain turn from a mountain to a crater?

Post » Wed Jul 27, 2011 6:02 am

I've talked to doctor dala but I'm still not quite sure as to how it happened. Was it hit by a nuclear bomb during the great war or did something else happen?

Lol, it was always a crater, it just so happens the crate is in a mountain. http://www.google.com/imgres?q=mountain+with+crater&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&tbm=isch&tbnid=afXAF7XO_dPg_M:&imgrefurl=http://ilovetanzania.blogspot.com/p/important-links.html&docid=PMwsrdhOkHdZWM&w=400&h=289&ei=JrstTuXHMOfh0QHO6NjkDg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=969&vpy=408&dur=4875&hovh=191&hovw=264&tx=157&ty=134&page=2&tbnh=161&tbnw=215&start=21&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:19,s:21&biw=1280&bih=856, Big Mountain was most likely a volcano at one time.

One of 0's experiments with the radar fencing or some kind of barrier, IIRC

No, Wombat, I'm afraid you are mistaken.

I've beginning to think that its actually from THEM (one of them were having an argument about an equation, then all hell breaks loose, so I'm guessing one of them messed with an Atom and got the results very sadly...BUT then again, most of it seemed humorous sooo ._.), failed Atom experiment goes boom from the inside out, since they were experimenting on that :/

I deffinatly remember some dialoge on how it happened, but he wouldn't elaborate because he was "embarassed,"

But it deffinatly started as a mountain, turned to a crater from an experiment.

I'll look for proof.

I feel stpuid now... IIRC it was a crater in the slides, but anyways

Due to a failed experiment conducted before the War, the mountain above the center was vaporized, leaving behind a giant crater and the exposed central dome of Big MT. This catastrophe did not phase the researchers and the efforts in pushing back the boundaries of technology continued unabated. The new land exposed by the explosion was adapted for scientific purposes: new facilities were established, both above and underground, including an artillery test field and a test town.

From the vault.

This is from the vault, but that doesn't mean it's true:

Sweet, thanks guys.
Must have been either one hell of a weapon or an experiment that really didn't work out to well.

Well, if Mobius's random PA system rants are to be believed, either he or Dr. Klein messed up an equation while working in the Y-0 facility and blew up the mountain. If the nearby terminal is anything to go by, that's where they worked on the vending machines used in the Sierra Madre, which explains why it could be so disastrous... matter conversion gets messy if you screw up.

I thought that was just why the facility was destroyed, I'm not so sure about it being the cause of the mountain being vaporized; not that I'm saying that isn't the reason, it just doesn't seem likely to me since Y-0 would be completely gone. You can still see parts of the building left over.

Actually it was either mobius or that other doctor who blew it up from experiment. Figured this out today while playing and Mobius was using his propaganda and it said something along the lines of" Remember the experiment at Y-0 doctor (forget his name), you blew it up. Or was it me? It was probably me" or something like that.

Or roughly translated, "I accidentally the entire mountain", because I like stale memes. :hehe:

Well, nobody ever said the mountain was vaporized, just that it was blown up. It's entirely possible that the Y-0 facility was simply built to be ludicrously durable, and thus partially survived the destruction. Of course, it's also possible that the Y-0 explosion was unrelated, and looking back, it makes more sense for the Y-0 explosion to be unrelated to Big MT becoming a crater, given that it isn't near the center. Even if it was a facility that 'got up and moved' afterward, I doubt it would have dragged the rubble containing the terminal. Of course, I also have no idea how the various facilities and laboratories might 'get up and move', so it's entirely possible the rubble may have been moved as well... blasted SCIENCE! making things complicated. o.O

One of Mobius loudspeaker speeches said it was blown up by an experiment by Klein or himself but he forgot which and Klein avoids the topic out of embarrassment.
