I was nerdy enough to devote an entire summer day to staying inside and watching E3, it was worth it...oh! And that's how I found about Brink.

Some guys were talking about SMART on the Minecraft forums, I googled the game they were talking about, bam. Hooked on instantly.

That was around november, mind you. I was too lazy to make a forum account for months.

Once I found out SD was making a new class-based, team objective game, I was sold.

Pretty much the same with me, it just took an extra second to realize that Splash Damage made Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory which I remember being a very fun game. Once I made that connection I kept my eye on Brink. I also like the majority of the things that the developers are including, although there are some things that I disagree with. The majority of things seem well thought out though.

This thread was necor'd? CURSES, I've been foiled again. Well this is the progression, friend sent me a link and then I made the Splash Damage connection.

what got me interested was the fact that it was actually focusing on teamwork, just like in bad company 2! you need teamwork in this game and bc2 (my current favorite shooter) to complete your goals!

I actually didn't know about it, but I clicked on one of the youtube advertisemants for it by accident. I was then introduced to the cinematic trailer. I proceeded to watch it six times, then I went to the official game site and I got sold on it. This all happened last september.

Looking through game trailers on youtube at a mates, and on the list is a brink video. I ask what it is and he tells me it's a FPS with free running elements. I then watched all the videos on the internet I could find. This was about three weeks ago before that I didn't even know it was coming out.

Because it is different, a far cry from most other shooters. The most important reason is because it somehow reminds me of Shadowrun, one of the most brilliant multiplayer shooters of this generation, though sadly extremely underrated because of the present day obsession with "thirteen-in-a-dozen-productions".

It's different. We need different.

I saw Bethesda was publishing it. (At first I thought they were developing it, that's what truly caught my attention).

Buffs

SMART movement

Different Classes

"Knocked down" status (similar to that of Guild Wars 2)

Customizable Characters

Online/Offline play

Smooth and intuitive looking interface

These are some of the things that caught my attention.

Looked like a more relevant (improvement) to TF2, something slightly more serious but also with a stylised art style.

Also it has more hats. Or at least I hope it does. Don't let me down!

To answer the OP, it was from word of mouth from clanmates that I heard of it.

I've been following it for a while now, although at one stage I did put it to the side (was angry about no release date for ages).
But now its so close, the trailer was mind blowing. More companies need to catch on to making badass trailers :)

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/something-for-brink/711462 is when I thought this is something different. He's not talking like all the others do about their fps experience so I needed to check this game out. I also was the torchbearer for my clan on Brink. So after a number of them investigated Brink we will have a large number of players for a good game to be had. woot woot :celebration:

First when I saw the original promotional video on Steam a long while back. Then when I saw it had re-appeared with all these new things, and I was hooked.

Friend of mine suggested this obscure title to me and was I like, "Yeah, whatever." Then he urged me to look at the intro video. One thing lead to another and the more information I learned, the more Brink reminded me of Shadowrun, an underrated game that got no respect but provided me with hours and hours of fun. Read more and realized Brink was trying to be innovative, and I was sold. Even if the game is a flop I'll sleep fine knowing that I supported innovation in a heavily stagnated FPS marketplace.

The first thing that caught my eye was the character customization.
