Anyhoo... the PC's place of birth is indeed in Jefferson Memorial. If you find a room filled with what looks like remains of a medical ward, you can look at the cieling and see... the Gene Projector.

Also, there seems to be a cozy little bedroom with several of Dad's tapes, and a tape of "better days" with Ma trying to work while Pa is getting frisky... probably the place of the PC's conception.

Its obvious that James was allowed into the Vault because the player's mother was a Vault Dweller. When you first meet Moira she mentions that she knew another vault dweller (whom she had outfitted with the Armored Jumpsuit) some years before (its never really specified just how old Moira is). Now, Ive only started the game once and I do believe that this vault dweller she referred to was a female.

Not possible. The vault dweller ventured out "10 or 12 years ago" before the PC ventures forth, which means it is not Mom.

Also... The survey team leader in the V101 overseer's terminal scouting report was "Anne Palmer", probably Old Lady Palmer (which fits seeing that it's dated 2241). Not seeing anything to the effect that Sheriff Simms was a vault boy.

At your birthday party Old Lady Palmer says "I remember the day your dad came here" or something along those lines.

I'm fairly certain the Overseer's talk with your father during one of the transition parts is "We need a doctor, not a deadbeat. Fail to live up to my expectations and there will be consequences.", warning him that he's liable to be thrown back out of the Vault.

Id just like to point out 2 things regarding Moira.

1. She's Crazy. You cant really count on her memory being accurate.

2. She has the potential to become a ghoul (I think she is already and is just not showing). So her age can be called indeterminate.

But aside from that I agree, its highly unlikely the VD she refers to is your Mum.

Craziness does not equate to bad memory. From what I've seen of her, she's quite aware of her environment, and her behavior seems to be a coping mechanism.

If she was a Ghoul, she woulda had a lot more rotting going on. The reason why she insta-ghoulifies is because of resources and time: it wasn't worth making a whole new race and texture that will be used just for Moira's intermediary status.

Hold on. When on earth does Moira become a ghoul? :huh:

synopsis of Vault 101 (purely theoretical)

1 Star Paladin cross Is your mother, when using Toggle free cam and looking at your birth mother she is of african american decent. she never died
your father told you she died because she left the vault and he's supposed to keep up the facade of an impenetrable vault life. you would ask well why do moiriarty and Dr.Li say she's dead

maybe it is presumed she's dead by Dr.Li, she does state your dad simply up and left after you were born, maybe her death was faked, where after wards she accompies him and yourself to megaton in Power Armor to support herself during the long journey ( remember she just gave birth, how she got the armor? remember that the BOS protected jefferson) once they reach megaton James wife no longer accompanies them still wanting to make a difference out in the wastes while her husband, your father cares for you in the Vault (maybe she did not trust the whole idea of the vaults*) where she then joins the BOS.

Vault life: we already know the whole set about this, dad gives some sob story about his dead wife and only son, gets into the vault only if he serves as a Doctor, at that time Vault 101 suffers a major incident that changed the Personnel (new overseer, the overseer we see now was not the original 19 years ago) and created a zealous fear about opening the vaul. most advlts and maybe children go missing and or killed, the newborns are told lies and the advlts are brainwashed. (brainwashed being how scared they are of the opening doors, remeber the guards)

After the vault: your mother now star paladin Cross: notice how she is so eager (on good karma) to join with you and protect you and makes comments now and again about your father & how proud he would be. she acts motherly and is the right age between the length of time since you were born.


Inconsitencies(sp)---- If this were true why didn't she join with your father once he left the vault and started project purity?
A. well your father didn't go to the BOS citadel much less knew where your mother was at that time, since he went around asking for updates on the land from threedog and moriarty. & by the time you do arrive at the citadel your father is already dead and gone

well one reason could be dependant on your karma level, remmeber the Wasteland changes people so
in the instance that you were the [censored] of the land why would mom tell you who she was?

like i said before the wasteland changes people maybe she felt she was no longer the woman that gave birth to you those nineteen years ago maybe she felt it was easier not telling you the truth so that she could protect you better and not jeopordize your function out in the wastes.

Or maybe she was brainwashed in the vault. Mortiarty tells about brainwashing going on in the vault and he talked truth always anyway. And about Cross voice, appereance, etc, it was modified too. But why? You tell me.

Momma Lone Wanderer is named Catherine. Many references to that by Dad. Cross doesn't sound much like the woman you can hear on one of the disks you find during your first trip into Project Purity.

moira becomes a ghoul after being directly to exposed to an atomic blast. (far enough away to not die, close enough to get heavly irradiatied).

Moira Brown I believe says she "hasn't seen one of you in a long time". Meaning someone from a vault. So that most liKely means the vault was opened, and some left, James, and you went in, and god Knows what happened to those who left..

I don't see Cross as your mother at all, especially because your not really meant to see your mother, so you mother can be whoever you want her to be. White, Black, Asian, etc. . she has no definite appearance to allow the player more RPability. The again, if you say you want Cross as your mum, suppose you could play it that way, but I don't see it.

James, Catherine, and Doctor Li were not born in Rivet City. At least, Pinkerton said Doctor Li came to Rivet City with Project Purity in mind...No idea if that's before or after James went to Vault 101. In any case, they came to Jefferson Memorial because of it's location to help the Capitol Wasteland redevelop. This means they would have to have been from nearby... My theory is they're from the same facility that Rivet City's founders were apparently from. No idea where that is.

How James got in... Well, with a Vault-tec computer he could probably get the base codes to open the gear door and then diplomatically convince the Overseer to let him stay, or he met up with an expedition that went to Megaton. After all, James was said to have been there with your character as a baby.

Doubtful, since then Pinkerton would likely know Li before she came to Rivet City, and he didn't.

Maybe they're actually deserters from the Enclave?

That would explain why they know a bit about them. Raven Rock is probably where they came from then.

They could have deserted during the relocation of Enclave forces from the West Coast to Raven Rock after the destruction of the Oil Rig.

If James was aware of the Enclave's plan from FO2, it would explain why he was so paranoid about the Enclave taking over Project Purity, and would rather see it destroyed and kill himself than have the Enclave take it over. Maybe he even worked on the Enclave's original extermination plan and wanted to redeem himself?

Intresting Idea, trough not implented in the game it would be lovely if Autumn says in the jail back at raven rock 'so you are the son of that traiterious bastard James'' .... And Eden 'You can redeem you're self of the evil what you father implented to do to his project' ... Also it that makes sense that Anna Holt (?), turns herself over to the Enclave ...

Now that's something I can get behind. Damn Ausir. You just characterized James better than the game ever did. With a back story like that, I probably would've cared more
