How did you find about Skyrim?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:28 pm

I actually saw a thread on [censored]'s /v/ board, and thought it was a troll. Because, seriously. TES V!! Then I came here and saw it was legit, and was so excited I screamed at the computer.
(Yes, I frequent [censored]. Thank goodness I have no reputation to protect.)

I was watching the VGA's. My god, I got so excited and happy. You have not idea. Only the people who have been on the speculation thread day in day out all year and before that even knows what it feels like to have Todd Howard come out onto the stage and announce the game you were sure would not be announced at the VGAs. If not sure then at least skeptical about it being announced.

I knew the VGAs were on sometime on that day, but the different time-zones made it sketchy. I was not expecting TES V to be announced at all, after all the times when I'd had my hopes shattered. But I was still curious and googled 'Elder Scrolls' into Google News, only a short time after it had actually been announced. To actually see 'Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced' after all the other times when nothing had been there was quite bizarre, surreal, if you like.

l was watching the VGAs because l had nothing better to do. l seriously doubted that we would hear anything about TES V for a while. But as soon as they showed the snowy mountains l knew. And as soon as it was over l got on the forums and didn't go to bed for five hours.

I was on the TESV Speculation thread leading up to the VGAs. I was expecting to see TESV at the VGAs, but I didn't get to watch them because I wasn't home. I came here as soon as I got back, watched the trailer and jumped for joy, I was so excited! :celebration:

One of my friends linked the trailer on facebook, then I came here to check if it was true. I was not expecting to see it at the VGAs, so it was a big surprise.

First it was "why won't they make an anounncement.", now it's "why don't we have screen shots", I guess we are never happy eh? :P No matter what, as soon as we get something, we want something more. :D

That's the way it goes. We've gotten all excited and now we want to know if we have a reason to be excited. Basically the announcement consisted of "We're releasing TES V Skyrim on 11 11 11. Here's a vague narration of some of the plot elements and a stone wall for you to beat your heads over." We know almost nothing about the game and most of what we do know is guesswork. And I have no doubt that's exactly the way Bethesda wants it.

I've known about it for 2 years now thanks to copyrights and speculation.

But I saw the announcement on the VGAs.

So what's it like when you mods get told early? Are they specific about why they need you online or are they kind of vague and pvssyfoot around the truth?

I'm hoping to pigtail on this and see if any moderators got a heads-up about the announcement?

But I was washing a dish when I found out.

I finally got unbanned on the SWTOR forums and saw a thread about it in the Off-Topic section.
I was pleasantly surprised!

I was watching the VGAs, and believe me an announcement for TES:V was the last thing I expected (Although I should have known considering Game Informer's latest issue did a history of TES and where the IP was going). Once Todd Howard was on the stage though, I knew TES:V (Skyrim) was definitely a reality.

I knew it was coming soon...
When I that morning opened Beth forums and clicked my way to CD, and then I saw new Skyrim Section on Elder Scrolls forums.

And i damn sure was happy!
