How did you hear of "Skyrim"?

Post » Thu Jun 24, 2010 9:22 pm

Noticing the interest in "Skyrim", I was wondering how many of you are new to the Elder Scrolls and how many are veterans. Will "Skyrim" be your introduction to the series, or was it "Oblivion"? How many started with "Morrowind" or even older games?

Pretty sad, but every now and then would google "Elder Scrolls V", just on the off chance. Finally got ES V skyrim revealed at Spike vga, haapy as a pig in the proverbial.

And just re read the OP, started with OB then Daggerfall.

I started with Morrowind then lost interest after awhile. Then it was rekindled with Oblivion and now Skyrim is at our doorstep, banging the gates

Oblivion was my first, then I was a bit skeptical about Morrowind, ended up LOVING it. Then on December 11, 2010 (Unaware of the VGA) I was on YouTube looking at random TES vids and people in the comments were all "ZOMG SKYRIM 2011!!111!1!!" so I zipped to UESP real quick to confirm, and there was the announcement. Quickly went to the website and watched the trailer. That was a epic chain of events imo :tes:

I was in the Fallout New Vegas forums here when I first heard. :)

I just finished my 4th game of Oblivion and it's still my favorite game ever....couldn't love it more. I give myself up to the game and get totally immersed so I cry at the end.

I have a game of Morrowind going and, along with Portal 2 and Fallout 3, will keep busy until Skyrim gets here.

As for myself, I started with "Morrowind" and enjoyed the game "Oblivion", though not as much as MW in some ways. I think one of the first times I noticed "Skyrim" was when this forum was added to the website, though watching the trailer followed soon after.

First ES game was OB. First heard rumours of Skyrim when it was believed that it was going to be announced quite early on in the year (IIRC the announcement was actually DAII). I think back then it was already known that Skyrim had been trademarked, although there was nothing official.

Back in 2006 i read an review of Oblivion. I wasn't really familiar with RPGs, infact i mostly played sportsgames like NHL and FIFA + Platformers, racing and Fighting from time to time. I took the chance and bought the game. The only thing i regret is that i didn't buy the Collectors Edition. I'll be sure not to make the same mistake this time. Later i wanted to try Morrowind, i liked that aswell. I also wanted to try Daggerfall but when i finaly got the chance i had to admit the game was simply too dated for me to enjoy. I found out about Skyrim shortly after the announcement.

Pretty much this ^

I started out with Morrowind about 7-8 years ago. Then I found the forums. Then I was excited like hell when I heard about Oblivion! Then I played Oblivion. Then I played Daggerfall. Then I googled "TES V" any chance that I could possibly have. Then one day I saw it "Skyrim". Now I'm in the forums again.

First played Morrowind, and I've played Oblivion. I heard about Skyrim, I think, on another game's forums.

Like a lot of people my first taste of TES was Morrowind, a fantastic game and it makes my top 5 of all time. I just hope the give Skyrim the same feel as Morrowind had because Oblivion just didn't feel right to me :(

The first time I'd ever heard of Bethesda, was when I read that they outbid for the Fallout license and were going to make Fallout 3 instead of who I'd hoped for (Troika).

I went out and bought the Obliivon CE to see what Bethesda was known for. I was very impressed with the visuals.

Now I own TES 2, 3 & 4.

I'd not played either game long enough to even have read the name Skyrim. The first time I saw it was when they opened the Skyrim thread.

I gave up on actively looking for ESV news years ago, figuring it will be here when it gets here. So my jaw about hit the floor when I saw that distinctively Elder Scrolls logo in the new videos section of Xbox live. I guess that means it went straight through the floor when I saw the announce trailer. Haven't been this geeked out about a video game in at least a decade...

My first ES experience was Morrowind on the original Xbox. I'm glad it's backward compatible on the 360 because I still haven't beaten it in I-don't-want-to-know how many hundreds of hours.
