How difficult will Skyrim be?

Post » Sun Jan 16, 2011 11:35 pm

I'm happy no matter what, cause I'm split down the middle on the issue.

For one thing TES is like an incredibly fun Sandbox to me, in which I can RP, goof-off and just have a good time, immersing myself completely. In doing this, an easy game is far more fun. However, I also like challenging games. I like games that make me constantly save for fear of dying. I like games that I always have the fear of being overrun. I like games that have boss-fights that take me 5 tries to win. :D

So I'm happy either way difficulty-wsie.

Depends where your difficulty slider is.

Who knows? But if you don't like the default difficulty, you could probably adjust it like in other bethesda games... And even if that's not enough, there will almost certainly be mods to tweak whatever aspect of the difficulty you don't like

This, but hopefully it will be challenging in the middle. Hopefully.

Lets just hope its difficult in other ways besides damage sponges. Combat seems to be alot more tactical, so heres hoping.

However high you set the slider.
Also, what is with these gameplay questions about Skyrim..?

PRO TIP PEOPLE:
WE HAVEN'T PLAYED IT YET EITHER.

This. I really wish people would quit asking about stuff we know nothing about.

Ideally, on 'normal' (slider in the center) difficulty, as long as there are some areas that give you that "I'm not ready for this" feeling of being under-leveled for the challenge presented by the enemies, I will be happy. TES has never been a "hard" game, but it does help when the difficulty curve is present enough that you actually feel empowered by leveling up.

It has been confirmed that there will be areas that will be too tough to go when your character starts. Basically your not getting in that area as a rookie so come back later.

The basic game will be fairly easy because most gamers arnt all that good at it.

With luck they will have more optiosn that increase challenge without just making you do ;less and them have more hps... things like larger spawned groups.. slightly higher level monsters...nastier monsters found in more places...

Oblivion was, IMO, way too easy. No matter where the slider was. Make Skyrim a little harder, please.

I hated this about Oblivion. I kept the difficulty slider in the middle, because anything below that you turn into a one hit killing god and anything above that enemies are near impossible to kill (imo). I wish there were two sliders, enemy health and player health. I would have them both set low, to make combat more tactical, like you said.

This is exactly what I want too! When I was modding my Oblivion to be more realistic, it would have saved me many hours of looking and installing multiple damage and weapon mods if they had those two sliders.

I really, really hope that we get some options like that so we can tweak game play to our own tastes.
