How does it feel to now be considered an EOS veteran you Obl

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 1:17 am

I don't really fit into those categories, since I played Oblivion first and still think Morrowind was better than Oblivion or Daggerfall or Skyrim.

But until now I didn't have any third means to measure relativity from. Oblivion seems much closer to Morrowind than to Skyrim.

Morrowind is here

Oblivion is worse, down here.

But Skyrim is all the way down here.

I have no idea how it feels to be an EOS veteran, since I have no clue what that is. All I know is, I really enjoy Oblivion and I don't give a rodent's hindquarters what anyone else says about the game (or about me). Let the haters hate. Let them rant and rave. I shall sit back and laugh at them.
I won′t. Too busy playing :twirl:

"rodent′s hindquarters"

Elder Overwhelming Scrolls? I'm assuming the E and S has to be Elder and Scrolls. :tes:
And with this explanation, I′m satisfied

Do you mean reverse psychology? Phylology is the study of languages in a historical context. ;)

I'm going to be honest, the thing i dislike the most about this place is "teh" Skyrim forum. I just thought 4 months after release the hatrid and rage may have subsided, but apparently not.

I do agree, Bethesda did a few things lousy on Skyrim and some of those may be just things i disagree with... but my god, what a game. Skyrim is fantastic and i was a pro Oblivioner who defended against the endless Morrowind hordes. Thankfully Oblivion has been left alone now...

Myself, I'd say it took eight months for the negativity to disappear in Morrowind General Discussion. Probably about six months in this forum. So I'd guess we have another two months or more of negativity left in Skyrim General Discussion.

Notice I'm saying General Discussion. Not all Skyrim forums are ill-mannered. The mods forum, the Creation Kit forum and the Hardware forum are all very mature, intelligent, helpful forums. The spoilers forums is usually a bit more mature also. It has been that way with all the games, in the first months after release.

(With this caveat: some of that early negativity in the General Discussion forums tends to return when an expansion is released.)

Anyhow, being a Oblivion fan i recall always having to defend it against MW elitest and the ignorant haters that weren't EOS fans but hated on Oblivion cause it was the cool thing to do.

Never been into creating strawman opponents as you're doing, myself. I disagreed strongly with those folks who thought Oblivion was crap because I loved Morrowind, and I didn't think much of the Daggerfall types who insisted Morrowind was a plague when the latter first came out--but fact is, offensiveness aside, they all had good personal reasons for their admittedly one-sided opinions.

Personally I like Morrowind best, but regard Oblivion and Skyrim as excellent games, each of its kind. And what's more, thanks to modding, I can make each of them the kind of game I really enjoy. Turning one against the others seems self-defeating, somehow. Who really cares that much whether X mounts a soapbox and begins shouting the virtues of a particular ES game? As long as they know what they like, that should be sufficient. It's not as though the game is going to mysteriously vanish for their hard drive if they don't proclaim its triumph across the universe, after all. You like Oblivion best? Fine with me. You prefer Skyrim? Great. Morrowind? Fantastic. Mario Bro...oh, well, now that's a bridge too far.

I have to tip my hat to you die hard Oblivion fans

I too was once a die hard Oblivion fan, i put in 1500 plus of game time. However, since Skyrim's release i jump ship and clocked in a modest 400 hours and counting.

Anyhow, being a Oblivion fan i recall always having to defend it against MW elitest and the ignorant haters that weren't EOS fans but hated on Oblivion cause it was the cool thing to do.

Now, the "ignorant haters" that starts game hating trends and moved to attack Skyrim and the MW elitest have all focused their attention on Skyrim which now makes it were i have 3 fronts of war i have to defend against

Moreoever, this puts your loyal die hard Oblivion fans in a comfortable middle posisiton. Everyone leaves you alone and now you've earn the right to become an EOS veteran having the new installement of the serise to level your own critisims at. Although, i much rather hear what you guys have to say because i believe if your still sticking with Oblivion after all the "happings" in the serise. In my view you guys have earned the right to say whatever you want about Skyrim and i like hearing what you'll have to say about it cause i too was one a die hard oblivion fan. It's just the people outside the serise that critisize the game that i can't handle.

Anyhow, after all the dust has settle from the past and the present, those of you that are still die hard Oblivion fans i'd like to hear what you have to say if your are going to be sticking with Oblivion rather than jumping ship like i have. And i'd like some insight into how this makes you feel toward Oblivion now that you've seen Skyrim and fought the good fight against MW elitest and still desire to remain a loyal player to Oblivion
What does EOS mean?

That it is still going on should tell you something. Fact is, it's not as fantastic as led to belive from the Bethesda PR machine.

What does EOS mean?
We're all wondering that. Until the OP deigns to enlighten us, all we can do is speculate.

Evil, Obnoxious Scum?
Ever Odious Swine?
Excommunicated Obscene Supplicant?
Excessively Obsequious Servitude?
Extremely Obvious Sign?
Effete Offensive Snob?
Elite Oblivion Supporter?

As a Morrowind fan.....I still hate Oblivion most. Skyrim has it's problems, but it still way better in my opinion.

I also don't see why people must 'defend' games.....if I don't like something I should be free to express my opinion, you don't have to argue why 'I'm wrong'.

Why do you have to "hate" it? Do you feel extreme rage towards it?

I generally like the gameplay and character development in Skyrim better and I am a little dissapointed Oblivion only have 4 major faction comparred to Morrowind who had many, but I don't think any game will ever take Oblivions place in my heart. Even though I have been playing since Morrowind(mainly because of my father) Oblivion was the game who really got me into The Elder Scrolls and it even made my experience with Morrowind so much better.
