How does Gould know you are Alcatraz?

***********************Spoilers******************************

I am on my third playthrough and I just noticed something.

When you get to Gould's girlfriend's apartment, he thinks you are Prophet. But when you get into the suit cradle he finds out you are not because of a video of Prophet saying "remember me..." etc. But nowhere does it say who the guy in the nanosuit is, and you are not talking. In the next room, he talks about a deeply imbedded virus and how Prophet must have had something planned for you, but he still does not know who you are.

In the next segment, you escape from the area and Gould guides you along referring to you as Alcatraz. When you meet up with him at the Bank vault to do a "deep scan" the video of Prophet finding Alcatraz is shown for the first time. You can see his name tag as he is dragged off the beach and Prophet says it out loud. This is the first time Gould could have seen this.

So when does Gould find out who you are? Did I miss something?

The nanosuit's AI calls you Alcatraz the entire time. It stands to reason when he looked at the data at first and stood up going "WAIT YOU'RE NOT PROPHET" that he saw the suits name tag for you.

That's the only logical explanation I can think of, anyways. I noticed that myself, but every single cutscene from the beginning the suit knows your call sign.

It played back the memory of Prophet, the part where he finds your corpse and goes "alcatraz huh"

Yes, but that part is AFTER Gould starts calling you by name. His equipment is not fancy enough to go deep into the suit layers.

I don't know when Gould could have had time to further examine the initial scan after you part ways the first time. You are both chased from the apartment and when you next see him, all he has is his gun. And the video showing the name tag does not surface until the deep scan he forces the tech to do.

As for the suit knowing your name. That would have had to be input by Prophet somehow. The suit cannot read your mind, just your DNA. But Hargreave needed an operating room (skinning room) with high tech gear to remove the suit while Prophet did it in a bombed out basemant with no tools.

Perhaps because he is in symbiosis with the suit and can take it off willingly, it just can't be taken by force?

Exactly. The suit was resisting Hargreave. So he needed to try and take it by force. The suit did not resist prophet or Alcatraz so they could get it off easily.
