How does one get to a (D)aedric Realm after one dies?

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 10:18 pm

After someone dies, they enter Aetherius. Some souls then go to the dreamsleeve to be recycled, but other souls are able to join Daedric realm. How (aside from pledging one's soul to a Daedric Lord)?

This spoiler contains information about the House of Horrors quest in Skryim.
Spoiler

Molag Bal is able to claim Logrolf's soul after Logrolf pledges his soul to Molag Bal and is then killed. Can this happen with all daedra?

Also, what would then happen if that person were to die while in the daedric realm (if that's possible)?

I assume it would be possible with all Daedra Lords, yes. Though I have no evidence. As for "dying" in a Daedric realm, I will look to the Nightingales for this.

Spoiler
When you talk to Gallus, he says that he feels as if he is 'dying' due to the Skeleton Key's absence, despite being a spirit. I'm going to assume that all Nightingales are somewhat connected to Evergloam from the time they are inducted. He feels his power fading, and while we know he isn't fading into Evergloam, he does not specify where he feels he is fading to. I would imagine he is either going to The Void or Aetherius. I want to say The Void though, as that seems the only place a spirit would go if it 'died'. Or maybe they just cease to exist.

Same thing.

I know in the past other Daedric Princes have been able to claim the souls of mortals that worship them, so that would be the number one way for it to happen. However, we know werewolves go to Hircine's Hunting Grounds when they die, regardless of whether or not they want to or have pledged any allegiances.

You have to remember the Logrof pledged himself. Be it under coercion or genuine devotion, if a mortal gives oneself up to a Daedra Prince, their soul is for the taking. I wouldn't really be surprised is there was this unwritten law or rule that Daedra can't steal the souls of un-pledged mortals.

Perhaps

Perhaps or perhaps not. The Accords of Madness (especially XII) suggests that the Prince can claim a soul through other means.

Yes, as mentioned above there were few ways Daedric Princes can claim souls. Sheogorath claimed two, I think, as mentioned in the books. And another book mentions how a person who dies when doing a specific act may go rule in Oblivion upon death. I think going to Molag Bal's realm would be a horrible afterlife.

I believe this is Arkay's Blessing and Law.

The Dreamsleeve doesn't recycle everything.
