How easy is it to Roleplay in this game?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 9:00 pm

Lol@ F3 having 200 endings. FO:NV has closer to 200 endings then F3, and has Styles says, Broken Steel basically ruined the game. That's how I look at Broken Steel.

Fallout 3 doesn't have 200 endings. Not even close, and thanks to Broken Steel and endings we did get were removed. Have you even played the game? I think you are just going around reading interview and articles. Before Fallout 3 came out a Dev said there would be 200 ending slides. That is total crap. There is only "You were good" or "You were bad" speech and a pictures of the people and places, with Zero info on what happened to any of them. The only unique one was when you put the FEV into Project purity and DC becomes a "Graveyard." Again Broken Steel removed that.

New Vegas has something like 27 ending combinations, and you can have NCR, Mr.House, Legion or yourself taking over the Mojave. Like the Originals, we learn what happens to the people and places in the game based on our actions. We get to see the consequences of our actions. You don't get that with Fallout 3, but for the "Graveyard" part.
Well i think that it might be true, but still. New vegas force molds us the future of the wasteland, but fallout 3 allows us to roleplay that future to whatever we want to. Like we might deside to becoming a serial murderer that kills lots of people in differend towns and then you might end it with to getting mauled by yaogutai

For me the role playing feels very different in both games. FO3 only seems to work if I play a loner type who just does what they want. Playing the main quest does push you down the 'good' path and ruins it by not really having any other option avaiable. Joining the slavers or enclave would have been so cool.

Still, I do love the isolation and independance that FO3 brings. Most of my characters are that mad max archetype.

I have only just started NV. I enjoy the options to join factions and can see what that adds to the series. I am hoping that FO4 can mold the two concepts together.

Fallout 3 having 200 endings isn't true at all. There was a handful of different outcomes. Each a speech judging you as a player "you did you or you did bad." Then Broken Steel removed what little we did get in a way of endings.

Fallout is about changing the wasteland. It is about your actions having meaning in the grand scheme of things. You can role play a serial murderer in Fallout New Vegas as well. What is good about Fallout New Vegas. People will remember your actions, whereas in Fallout 3, your actions have no meaning at all.

Fallout new vegas has only 3 endings compared to over 200 endings in fallout 3. So i would say that fallout 3 has more roleplaying possibilities than nv.

... I will never be able to take you seriously again.

NV has over 200 endings and F3 has three or four.

Play the games before you post on the forums.

How does New Vegas force us into doing anything? Fallout 3 is the one that forces us to find the dad, help the Brotherhood and destroy the Enclave.

You could play a serial killer in Fallout 3, but there wouldn't be much point would there? Wait a few days and everyone's friendly again. People remember your actions in New Vegas, so when they see you coming they'll start running.

I’ve never played NV, but I have several thousand hours in FO3, and from my prospective you can’t role play very well in FO3, unless you just want to be a killer. There are few options to do otherwise unless you use mods and they don’t help that much. Don’t get me wrong, FO3 is a great game and fun to play, but I find it hard to get into any kind of role playing in it. I even have 3 companions who liven up the dreary landscape, but the game is still depressing and I don’t want to role play that type of game. Play it as a shooter and killer and have fun. If you want real role play, try Oblivion, with or without mods.

After that statement ... one is left wondering why you are still here involved in this game?
I assume there is only one awnser ... this is truely an awesome game?!?!

If you took a pole of top 5 games. This one would possibly show up the most. And if NV shows up , its just testament to the root of it being so strong.

My #1 would be starcraft though. (have yet to play #2)

One of the worst things about Fallout 3 in my opinion.

No matter how many times I shot Elder Lyons in the back, the BOS would always welcome me back the next day.

I suppose your right ... to wonder anothers motivation is folly.

If my feathers were ruffled, its my own fault ... no worries

I play as an Enclave soldier on the run from the NCR in the beginning, and I wear combat armor (In Navarro in FO2 they have troops with combat armor) when the Enclave come I pretend they're mad at me for deserting my post at Navarro so they attack me, but at the end I listen to Eden and put the modified FEV inside of the thing, remembering "I was born in the Enclave, I will die in the Enclave"

Edit: So my point is, you kind of can RP if you ignore the backstory, in NV though, I could RP an Enclave soldier 1000X easier, being able to join and have them fight for me basically.
