How to edit alias ID number in the quest alias window

I can't change the alias ID number in the quest alias window. For example:

I've recently discovered that if the alias ID number is not listed sequentially (e.g. 0, 1, 2, 3), the scenes will not trigger in my game. I have no idea why that is, and I have no idea why some of the alias ID for some of my quests are not in sequential order while others are (they are all properly set up in the story manager, and the scenes where the alias ID are in sequential order trigger without issues). I also can't seem to edit the alias ID number manually or know of any way to automatically 'sort' them.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

You can move aliases up and down within the Quest Aliases tab by highlighting one and using the left and right arrow keys. Does that help you "sort" them in sequence? Be careful though as there are cases where the order in which they are listed matters--for example if you're creating an alias at or inside another alias, the created alias needs to come after.

I had no idea about the scene problem. As far as I know, aliases are numbered in the order that they were created by you, and so the numbering can't be changed within the CK. TES5Edit probably lets you edit the numbers, although I haven't tried it so don't know what impact that would have on people who might already have the quest running, if that's a consideration.

Yeah I know about moving them up and down  From what I can tell, they need to be in precise sequence (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc). If they are out of order or not in that sequence (1, 3, 4, 7), the scenes will have issues triggering. I can sort them in 'order' manually but cannot change the alias ID number to put them in sequence. I only found this out last night because I added something like 20 scenes into the game, and half of them won't trigger. All of those that won't trigger have 'out of sequence' alias ID numbers, whereas all the ones that trigger properly have the 'proper' sequencing and ordering (0, 1, 2, 3, etc.). I have no idea how that happened. I tried editing the alias ID number in TES5Edit and it totally messed up the dialogue.
