How evil are you?

Post » Tue Jul 02, 2013 9:38 am

Did you ever kill innocents you didn't like because they where jerks? (Nazeem) Did you ever do anything else evil?

I killed:

Nazeem and his wife. Whiterun is much better without that bastard. I killed his wife on accident, because I dual-casted a Firebolt spell while he was sleeping, and she died too. After paying my bounty, reanimated them and killed them again.

Heimskr: I always thought that Talos preacher was annoying. I broke into his house at night, and killed him. I would have gotten away with it though if I didn't miss when I shot my first Firebolt. I missed, he woke up, and then I killed him.

Sven and Sven's mother. I thought Sven's mother was rather rude, so I was planning on killing her when I first met her, and I just really don't like bards. I broke into Sven's house, woke his mother up, and she said "You're not supposed to be in here!", and then she called the guards (+5 bounty), and then she went hostile and pulled a dagger out. Because she was hostile, I got my follower Uthgerd to kill her, and I got away with it. (It said "Last witness killed. 5 bounty removed from Whiterun.) And few minutes later, Sven came in, and the same thing happened. And then a guard came in, kneeled down to Sven's body, and said "Oh, what happened?" and then the guard left. I was going to reanimate them and kill them again, but it said they were too powerful.

Lastly, Onmund or whatever his name was from the College of Winterhold. I was okay with this guy. I just killed Ancano, (who I call Anaconda) and then he came in and started using a frost spell on one of those magicka light things. I wanted to see what would happen if I walked into the frost spell, and Uthgerd starting attacking him. I think Tolfdir attacked him too. And obviously, he died very quickly. I laughed the whole time. I also steal a lot.

Have you done anything evil?

There's people who have killed far more than me. And not really, because it's game and nothing I do effects the real world in any way.

Depends, my main character isn't evil, and doesn't kill innocents or steal. Even my "Evil" character doesn't kill randomly, only contracts and aggressors, but he steals a lot!

There is a danger of becoming desensitised to violence through video games and glorifying violence through video games. While I'm not for censorship to the extreme, there really is a line to be drawn at some point. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss a game's potential in warping a person's mind (it would already have to be compromised to a degree, but young people are very impressionable).

And I agree with the above post, mostly to the 'glorifying violence' part. I don't really want to get into a big debate , so just be careful not to get svcked in to the violence of game/films, there's nothing nice about killing irl.

No, not really. More like questionable deeds than evil when it comes to the stuff I've done in Skyrim.

You can't really play evil characters in Skyrim. Mentally unhinged, sure, but cold, merciless evil?

Killing Nazeem may be evil, but it's more Voldemort-evil rather than Sauron-evil.

I see my character as myself in an unrepressed environment, so I do as I would normally do in any environment: be the biggest crybaby there is when it comes to being nice to people without actually showing any emotion. That's not to say I don't have my moments of swift justice, though.

Uhmmm?? Darn. Someone should have told my character Siyuri that! She's definitely not mentally unhinged but very cold, merciless and evil. That said she's what I call "smart" evil. She doesn't run around killing everyone she comes across.

My character isn't evil, but he certainly isn't a paladin. His ideology can be gathered, at least a bit, from this image: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/439516/conan.jpg

Suffice to say that Nazeem hid behind civility to be an ass hole. He did not survive long in my game.

My necromage is very evil. Besides assassin kills and vampire kills i have

Given the mage orthorn to the caller for her experiments

Sacrificed to both baal and boethiah

Stealing and setting up people for prison life sentences in thieves guild quests.

I try not to kill townsfolk as the populations are thin as is.

I do go after soldiers in woods/patrol and the 2 people on the greybeard mountain pass. Same with evil wizards and witch houses such as anise

All the characters I play are lawful good (almost entirely, with some elements of neutral good and chaotic good that creep in, usually as a result of my own imperfections), which is how I try to live my life in the real world. I can't pretend to be something I'm not in a video game anymore than I can in real life. Too dissonant for me, and no fun, besides.

On the rare occasion I do steal, it's usually from the residence of someone evil (ie, Castle Volkihar) and entirely in the hopes that I'll have armed thugs sent after me. I love a good fight and the first time thugs were sent after me was a delightful surprise.

Hear, hear. We are what we eat--or rather, what we take in.

Oh my gosh ... you guys  . There is something called "being responsible for your own actions." A video game doesn't make you do anything any more than a song makes you do anything. YOU (a general "you" in reference to this topic not someone in particular.) make a decision to do something or not. Now you can choose to blame it on such including the fact you didn't get enough hugs when you were three years old, sure. However, the end result has to do with something inside of oneself, not games.

I grew up playing cops and robbers with toy guns and stuff! My extent with brushes with the law has been a "no turn on red" ticket.

Of course a video game or a song or anything can't possess you and take over your higher brain functions. That sort of assertion is absurd. But it's also just as absurd to suggest that the things we do and the things we observe and enjoy don't have any potential affect on us, however slight. There's a big difference between being personally responsible for our actions and magically being immune to external stimuli; the former is a fact, the latter is impossible.

I killed all the killable NPCs in Whiterun on my current session. And I stole the weapons and armor off all the Windhelm guards, because I thought it would make it easier on my when the Imperials finally attacked. Apparently they're all just replaced with generic Stormcloak NPCs during the battle for WIndhelm, so that didn't matter at all.

It's a game dude ease up.

OP: I dunno actually... I always avoid killing friendly NPCs but that's because there are few of them as it is. As I've stated before, I don't really role play and the game doesn't present any interesting moral choices so it doesn't matter to me.

My characters can certainly have questionable moral (like my thief, who gladly stole anything from anyone, and sold skooma despite knowing what harm it caused), but so far, no one has done anything outright evil, like betraying their friends for Daedric artefacts, or killing innocents just because they annoy them.

I haven't even joined the Dark Brotherhood! I have plans for it, though. I suppose that will be my most evil character.
