How far back into TES do you go?

Post » Sat Mar 26, 2011 7:57 pm

Well, I started playing with Oblivion, 1 year or so after release. It's the only one I've played a lot so far, although only now I am doing the main quest :P

Tried to go back to Morrowind, but just couldn't, mainly because of the combat system. Maybe until Skyrim comes out I will... you never know!

Started with Morrowind, did a few small, random mods for that and Oblivion, and the new Fallouts. Tried to get Arena and Daggerfall to work with dosbox but every time I finally do something goes wrong and it breaks, so, yeah, haven't had a chance to play those. As far as PnP goes I've never done a TES game, but I've played plenty of campaigns in various systems. The TES games I only play on PC, though I do have a 360 for some other stuff.

Morrowind and NWN are pretty much what got me into RPGS, then I went back and played a bunch of other older ones, and just keep playing new ones.

I played Oblivion, was amazed, and went into Morrowind. After the years since then, I still haven't found a better RPG experience.

I rented Morrowind back in 2002 for Xbox because I thought the pictures on the back of the case looked cool. When I got home I didn't even know how to begin; I had not seen a game where you could just walk around and do anything before. Well, the game was too complicated for me so I took it back to the video store and exchanged it with another.

A year later, after my brain had matured a bit, I saw the GotY box for that game in the Wal-Mart electronics section, and I thought I would just pick it up and try the game out again...The game consumed my soul from sun up to sun down that whole Summer.

To this day I see all other RPGs as obsolete after playing an Elder Scrolls game.

I started playing computer based RPG games, from when they were Text based blobs, on text screens, and that was when I got hooked into RPG genre, and preferred it to other genre.

I was hooked as a BGS fan by Morrowind, and still think that it is one of the most amazing games out there. :)

And I hope Skyrim would bring me the same amount of immersive freedom again.

I started with FO3 (shhh) then got Oblivion, then got Daggerfall and Arena and then finally found a copy of GOTY Morrowind.

I'm not extremely hardcoe although gaming can svck hours away from me and I can become completely immersed in the world.

I'm a PC

I started with Morrowind and after that I played a lot of Daggerfall.
This was before oblivion came out.
Ive played arena once or twice, but I dont think it has aged that well.

Started with morrowind of course, first I was like "wut, Im in a town, now what?" Took me couple of days to grasp the concept though I had read about it in beforehand. Awesome, best Free roam rpg ever, though could have better economy and combat mechanics. Oblivion. I tried to grasp, but the items, monsters and quests just seemed incoherrent cus of the lame level scaling and mechanics.

My answer to all the poll questions is the 3rd option.

Started with Morrowind right about when it was released. My imagination was never again the same.

I remember seeing Dagger Fall along side Star Craft at a local book store way back in the day, errr I think I was maybe 7 or 8. Though it wasn't till a friend of mine picked up Dagger Fall were I really got the chance to play it, ahhh 98 was an awesome year for PC gaming. hmm, I'm 21 now so yeah that would have made me 8 when I first saw Dagger Fall on a PC.

Heard of Arena, but didn't get to Bethesda's glorious series until Daggerfall (at which point I promptly went back to get Arena as well). I've been with Bethesda ever since. Being a D&D guy, I'd say my pen and paper knowledge is decent enough. I've also been a PC Gamer ever since my Tandy 286 (DOS and Desktop, before Windows existed).

Started with Arena and have played all the main Elder Scrolls games thereafter (DF, MWGOTY, OB+SI), pretty hardcoe in that I like "mah immurshunz" and tend to play my characters as believable people. Pen-and-Paper tends to see a lot of munchkineering, also known as powergaming or min-maxing. Have tinkered with mods for personal use, but haven't released anything.

PC for life! I will physically merge with my computer... one of these days...

I started with Oblivion then moved back to Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Arena, in that order. If fast-travel's position is an indicator, I guess I would check off casual, though I don't really see how liking a click and go fast-travel system that's been in 3/4 of the main series makes me casual. I play Oblivion on my PS3 and the rest on PC. I will be playing Skyrim on my PS3. I love all the games, but Oblivion remains my favorite. I still play them all, every now and then. I am 16 years old and generally play newer games on the newest Playstation I have while playing older games on a computer, if that computer can handle them.

I'm not sure what to vote for the first option.

I started with Oblivion on the Xbox in 2006. I was consumed by the game and I wanted more. The next year I got Morrowind for PC next year and was quickly hooked on the mods which made it impossible to play on my low-end PC. Then I got Arena and Daggerfall as free downloads from gamesas (I hope they're still around.) and enjoyed them, mainly Daggerfall. And after acquiring a new PC I decided to get Oblivion again for its mods. This makes the Elder Scrolls the only series where I have played every single game. (Spin-offs excluded)

Started with Oblivion. Meh, didn't care so much. Downloaded Arena and Daggerfall and got obsessed with Daggerfall. Now I'm trying to get Morrowind off eBay so I can have the (hopefully) the best.

I started my TES adventures in Morrowind and loved it of course, sadly I got it for the Xbox (if I had known about the mods I definately would have gotten it for PC). Then I got Oblivion and loved it too, along with expansions. And since I got this for PC I played and made some mods. At some point I want to play Arena/Daggerfall/the Morrowind expansions.

I'm a long time Fallout fan, and when I heard that Bethesda was going to make Fallout 3, I decided to check out Oblivion, because people were bashing it, and I wanted to find out the truth. The more I played it, the more I liked it. Then I reverse time traveled and played Morrowind, Daggerfall and Arena. I've grown very fond of the series. I spend most of my TES time playing Morrowind and Daggerfall.

I started gaming when I was 11, with the old Dungeons and Dragons set that came in a white box. I was almost always the DM. We played that and Traveller for years and years. One game for fantasy, one for science fiction. We got tired of using two game systems, and eventually started using GURPS for both campaigns. Stupid name, but a great game.

It's funny, but now, years later, I still have one fantasy game, TES, and one science fiction game, Fallout, that are my favorites. I play Oblivion and Fallout 3 on a 360, all the others on a PC.

First TES game was Morrowind. I've played it, Oblivion, and a bit of Daggerfall. I'm a PC gamer and an obsessive modder.
