How far would you go for a...?

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 1:52 pm

Greetings fellow Overseers,

I did a fare bit of exploring, at least until I was able to equip my 49 dwellers with outfits and weapons that are better than BB guns and now I only send one out at a time while the other is training his SPECIALS in hopes to find better equipment. My question is this...

How far do you have to explore to get weapons of +15 damage or outfits with +2/3 on 3 SPECIALS?

I have noticed that even though I have been exploring for 12+ hours, he doesn't come back with any really decent stuff! I thought luck might have something to do with it like I read in the forums, but he already has 8 Luck!

Any tips?

Hi Overseer nemerdekel,

You mean you sent someone out in the wasteland for 2 days? Wow! Ok! So I guess I'll let him suffer a little longer!

But i am sending out 10 guys simultaneously. If I send out more, the game starts to lag when I browse through my wasteland explorers, sadly.

Well, he's a lvl 49 (now) Confessor Cromwell with a few S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats leveled up. With all my 35 stimpacks and radaways he can go on for at least 3-3.5 days safely without using much of them.

Greetings,

I have a 17-19 flamethrower too, but it's posted at my vault door! Other than that I only have 4-8 damage weapons equipped with all my dwellers.

I guess I'll just try to keep him out longer!

Greetings Overseer iCope.

May I advise you to build an armory or other S.P.E.C.I.A.L. training room directly adjecent to your vault entrance? This way, your dwellers are guarding your entrance whilst training their stats. Intruders will have to pass and clear these rooms first, in order to reach my vaults vital parts.

Vault13 out.

I just recalled one of my Dwellers after about 34 hours in the wasteland. pretty much the best I'm seeing are 7-10 dmg laser guns and some armor with 2 stats (+2, +1) etc.

I got me the gold weapon "Lone Wanderer" on two occassions. I got 3 of them now because I got the first one out of a lunch box... What are the odds, eh?

Good afternoon CrimiNelis,

I just spent a lot of time and caps rebuilding my vault just for this purpose! Although I hope my train of thought was correct! I guess I'll find out with the next raid. What I did was I built my storage room at the entrance of the vault. My storage room was always unmanned and I thought this way I can kill 2 birds with one stone. First- it is now armed and protected from roaches and fire and Second- the raiders have to get through that first to get to the second level!

Like I said, I guess I'll see how it goes. I'll keep you posted!

There is really no point in having a storage room there, At least with an ability boosting room, they can gain abilities while they are just waiting for raiders. I have my Power room in that first level, Since they would have the most strength and I give them the best weapons.

the longest i ever sent someone out was 1day4hours, he borught back all common items. some of the highest statted common items, rusty laser pistol 7, enhanced shotgun 6-8 and +3 single statted outfits.

i suspect the length of the trip is a factor, but there is also quite a bit of RNG.

i had sn explorer bring back a rusty flamer 15 after only 4 hours.

other times, within 6 hours

i found blue outfits with 5 stats on them like ,

clergy outfit +4 cha +1 luk

greaser outfit

soldier uniform

and blue weapons like

armor piercing sniper rifle 10-14

a laser rifle 14-16

a sniper rifle 10-12

all around the 4-12 hour range.

i have had other excursions that last 18-26 hours that bring back only commons

i never had the nerve to go beyond 26 hours, and i now have a task to send someone out for 26 hours and i get a lunchbox.

at the 26 hour point, i was seeing level 47 scribe rothchild with the armorpiercing sniper rifle, encounter deathclaws and every time it said "i can't possibly defeat this deathclaw! i must run" and he took 8 damage. is it possible to actually defeat the deathclaw? considering he was only 3 levels away from maxed. do i need legendary weapons?

but once your gate guards max their stat for the training room, they are just taking up space in the training room that another dweller could be using to train...i find that a level 3 door gives my gate guards plenty of time to move from the bowels of my vault back to the surfsce to deal with raiders...its a bit annoying but i like having my training rooms clumped together in a pattern so i can more easily manage them, and since most of my early building up top was production rooms, the training rooms are naturally deeper in.

True and not true. There's no point in keeping the training room 'clogged' with max statters so I assign them to do other jobs or kick them into the wastes for a few hours. I don't think that any stat matters on dealing with raiders too, only the level seems to count for combat. So just give them a decent weapon and let them handle the raiders.
