How far would you go to play (enjoy) FO4?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 8:10 am

So if after say 50 hours out of the 400 hours of game-play we run into a game breaking bug that literally makes it impossible to advance further (and locks at 50 hours everytime) and one is forced to restart the entire game, are you that much of a Fallout fan where you would start a new game over and over and over (for say 1 whole month) while awaiting a Bethesda patch?

Yes this is a ridiculous hypothetical, even if it mirrors somewhat of a Fallout Shelter reality (considering Bethesda refuses to release any patches to fix this broken game) but are you that much in love with Fallout/Bethesda that you would do this or would you wait until the patch came out?

I for one (unfortunately) would succumb to an endless cycle...I think! :fallout:

I would probably try to figure out where the bug is and possibly what triggers it if it's quest/location/level related and just avoid/go around that area until a patch comes out to fix it

Fifty hours is a pretty long time when you can only play a little bit every night. I wouldn't mind re-starting two or three times in a month; longer than that, and I might start to get frustrated.

I would chew my way through the back end of a molerat, if it meant I could play for an hour at this point.

And smile :D

Since I'm planning to play it on PC, those kind of bugs are patched up, if not officially, unofficially via mods.

That reminds me of a classic joke though. Ahem.

I'd find the workaround. There's always some workaround.. Usually it's as simple as not coming in contact with the scripted event that caused the bug in the first place. Since I'm used to playing bethesda games and have become conditioned to making tons of game saves, backup saves and save-saves. I'm not too worried about game breakers.

yeah same as he, since there is A LOT to do, i will just go and do something else, and check on the website for fan patch, or manual fix, i normally do that. Biggest reason to play on PC, u can normally work around the bugs.

I played Dark Messiah on a crapPC back in the day. It would take 30 minutes to load a level, would be slow as hell, and would crash at the halfway mark through the game every single time. But I still played it to enjoy the best first person melee combat ive ever played to this day.

if Fallout 4 had the kind of problem you've described I would probably still do in 2015 what I did in 2006.

First 50 hours is making characters over and over and over again. Not sure I would make it to the bug that would cause me to start over.

I probably would not notice this bug until after a month goes by since I tend to restart my characters after one quest line is completed when I first play a Bethesda game.

If you cut the 50 hours down to 5 hours, I might start to get irritated by it, but it wouldn't stop me from playing.

When theres a repeatable game breaking bug in any game I play I always just stop playing the game until a patch comes out that fixes it.

No problem with that since I hardly have a character in any game that is older than 10 hours. I create new characters all the time. I likely have created close to 1k characters in Skyrim over the years. The sticking point is the game fun from the beginning if it is than I have no problem in creating 2k characters if I am having fun.

I usually restart my characters a bunch and will likely do so in FO4 as well so I'd be able to live with this hypothetical situation.

If this is only a MQ bug, no problem. I would keep trucking with the exploration aspect of the game until the patch that fixes it comes out. In the hypothetical that I'd have to build a new character when it does, well let's just say that I have made a lot of characters for Skyrim over the years. That would be a null perspiration event for me.

Of course, I've never had a game breaking bug in a BGS game; at least none caused by Bethesda. The worst and most annoying bug happened after Nexus Mod Manager ate my Skyrim install recently. Even after cleansing my computer of every trace of Skyrim (including AppData, Registry and running a Registry cleaner) and reinstalling, I cannot get Skyrim to start a new game. I don't blame Bethesda for that. I blame Nexus Mod Manager. That complaint could go on, so I'll just leave it there for this thread.
