how to fix : nolore Item steel was not found on line 8 ?!?

telvanni spy quest for mages guild (last quest for balmora mage quest giver Ranis Athris)

i go to vivec , talk to Trebonius & get the credentials & then go back to Ranis & this multiple message box warning window pops up

is it something wrong with the MCP or MPP ?

Mod list?

Try suing Wingrep or InfoRapid Search & Replace to search your plugins for the string "Telvanni spy" That should narrow down the possibilities.

ok i just had a big reply wiped :flame:

the error only happens when you have the "Credentials" scroll from Trebonius in your inventory . its a supposedly a forgery & getting/having it finishes the quest when you talk to Raynis about the 'telvanni spy' topic again . without it the game just repeats her dialogue about 'search for a spy'

i got Wingrep & i added *.esp & *.esm file extentions . along with *.txt & *.exe is there anything else i should be searching ?

it gave these matches :

Morrowind.esm
Tribunal.esm
Bloodmoon.esm
Morrowind Patch V1.6.4.esm
Object Permanence Full.esm

& the Bug Fixes.txt , which contained the following : "* topic 'telvanni spy' should be nolore, corrected"

i also opened up the "nolore" script up in the TES , but it only has 3 lines of text ?!?

what happens if you run a save game without an addon (object permanence) & then save

im about a third of the way thru a morrowind playthru & have completed hours & hours of work , is this fixable at all ?

sounds like object permanence, since that affects the dialog results for that topic, though i'm confused about the whole nolore and steel bit.

Well I'm certainly no dialogue expert, but looking in Enchanted Editor at Object Permanence Full.esm it has the following as "ResultText" (whatever that is) in the "Telvanni Spy" topic:

i just grabbed Enchanted Editor now (thanks to yacoby ~)

if its supposed to follow the naming convention then yeah , that would be causing a problem (this one to be exact)

also , wouldnt it need to be : ' equipitem, "steel tanto" ' ?

i guess the thing to do is find the "object permanence thread here & report this as a definant bug with the mod , id be amazed if im the only one to have come across this , surely cant be possible

Not sure there is a thread here for Object Permanence.

I've made the change (first time messing with dialogue so no idea if this will work) and it's here: https://www.yousendit.com/download/THE2Q3Q0NHZlaFEwTVE9PQ, good for seven days / 100 downloads. Ensure you use Wrye Mash to update your save before playing.

I have no idea if this will just work or if you will need to go back to an earlier save and then go and see Trebonius. Or maybe you need to wait for 72 hours (IIRC< NPCs revert to their unaffected satte after 72 hours). Sorry, but me and dialogue aren't well acquainted.

Anyway, let me know how you get on.
