The Empire won't fall, my Nerevarine is live and well, leading what remains of the Dunmer to hopefully rise again, yes as Resdayn. And I don't think civil war is unlikely, especially once the Dunmer get back on their feet, they'll be looking South for vengeance. I can also see Summerset Isles succeeding from the Empire.

  • The empire will come back, Titus Mede is doing a decent job so far, and Attrebus looks like he's growing up and getting smart
  • The nerevarine is likely to be alive, for age nor disease can fell him/her. Well, unless the nerevarine got poked hard enough, or had a bad accident. As for relevance? I'm on the side that (s)he's no longer relevant.
  • The dunmer will come back, but not as they were before. The only bits and pieces we really have of what they'll be like is in http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/5th_era_loveletter.shtml. Two houses are mentioned, House Sul and House Jaroon. House Jaroon is likely located in Solstheim, mentioned from this:
Our lord is High Alma Jaroon, of House Jaroon, whose city is the First City of the New North, where all who Went Under from Landfall settled and made peace with the Worm

This quote also seems to indicate the dunmer are in an alliance with the nords, or made peace with Shor (as far as I can tell). Also, a second Resdayin just doesn't seem likely. They will get their home back, that seems certain, but I do not see them as conquerors.

  • Will there be another war? Yes. The altmer are trying to bring back the Aldmeri Dominion, and have already grabbed Valenwood before the book. And if I am right, the Medes are likely going to try and expand the empire once again. If that is the case, Black Marsh looks as though they may put up a fight, Morrowind can't do much right now, as the dunmer are in Solstheim. The nords won't want to join, unless the Medes have balls and can fight well. For Hammerfell and Highrock, there is a really good chance those two places descended back in TES:II squabbling (many kingdoms, lots of fighting). As it looks right now, I get the feeling the biggest war will most likely be a Shor vs. Auri-El / men vs. mer kind of war.
  • As to who will win? I'd like to say men.

Peace doesn't necessarily mean an alliance. After fighting with the Nords for so long, I doubt the Dunmer on Solstheim (who are most likely decedents of House Redoran) would be willing for an alliance with an ancient enemy.

And why would they have to conquer anything to create a second Resdayn? I guess I don't really understand. And I honestly doubt the only Dunmer left in Morrowind are only on Solstheim, they would have surely began to move back at that point, not to mention I'm sure some Dunmer never left Morrowind at all. (Eastern Morrowind.)

I do agree with your outlook on the Men/Mer war though. It really seems that if the Altmer want the Dominion back, now would be the time.

EDIT: I'm just gonna start avoiding threads about Morrowind from now on :P Gets me all riled up, I'm a dark elf really devoted fan. (especially Redoran and Telvanni)

I'm not sure that Mede's empire will amount to much more than two or three provinces. It may be significant that the Blades (in "The Infernal City") are either hermits limited to Cloud Ruler Temple, or possibly gone altogether. Although Mede is not a "bad" man, it's possible that he doesn't have the backing of the Nine.

I've thought for a long time that the age following the Oblivion Crisis should resemble the Sengoku Jidai, with multiple factions struggling for power. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sengoku_period
It remains to be seen if the Medes are the shoguns who will reunite the land, or if there will be many warring states instead.

What type of Emperor is Mede? Like, which of the Septim Emperors does he most represent? Is he more of an aggressor or a diplomat?

It's been a while since I read the novel, but he sounded like a canny warlord who is trying to reunite the Empire by force, but who is not a tyrant. I don't like the manipulative way he raised his son Attrebus, though -- all of Attrebus' adventures before the events of "The Infernal City" were rigged in his favor, unknown to him.

You know, there's an "Emperor Attrebus" in the Common Era, whose empire was fraudulent and silly - like himself - at best. We're in a common era, of sorts, right now. Coincidence?! HMM?! The Medes are a joke, the penitus occulatus is the real power.

Titus Mede isn't a joke, though, and his son Attrebus is starting to make something of himself (in "The Infernal City") after having his eyes opened to the puppet strings he was attached to. The Penitus Occulatus has a long reach but they're still taking their orders from the Emperor.

If you want to become a God then walk in his footsteps. The power of repetition and habit can be significant. If you want your heir to be a winner then let him win. His belief that he has fee will should make it real for him - maybe you just don't like sneakiness?

There is one small thing that folks are ignoring - we have already seen that the Argonains are now a power. For the first time since the Dawn Era their Gods/rulers have sent them out to war in another province. True that Morrowind was in disarray ... but then practice makes perfect. Repetition again

About the Nine mentioned earlier in the thread - I would have to wonder about the significance of the Precurser rumour. If any of the Earthbones awakens does that mean all will awaken? How will that affect Mundus and the Nine?

I don't think the Nerevarine is dead because he's too powerful. If there is a civil war to happen, the imperials would probably be the one to win. I think Dunmer, perhaps as Redayn will rise again. I don't think there will be another civil war.

my own character aftermaths:
1. Arena guy was murdered. By who? Why, the the future Nerevarine of course.
2. Daggerfall guy lost his legs. Numidium stepped on the poor fellow's legs.
3. Nerevarine went to Akavir to put Tosh Raka in his place. Specifically, that place is a grave. He also had a night of fun times with the COC.
4. The COC entered into a mysterious portal in the middle of a large body of water. She then completed the SI main quest line.

Though as for the Septim Empire, I think we could really consider it already fallen. Mede's Empire will probably go to war with the elves at some point, and hopefully purge the world of bosmer filth once and for all.

"if there will be a civil war, which race will win?"

You left out the Redguards.

Nerevarine is probably not going to show up. Empire won't be reformed for a while. Everyone will probably internally go at each others throats, and the first province to ally together will conquer a regional part of Tamriel.

Still, don't think things will be united, and all peaceful.

Here's what I think will happen:

The Empire stands, the Nerevarine isn't dead, but we will not hear from him anymore.
The Dunmer will rise again, but not as Resdayn. My guess is they will become more "mainstream" and traditional imperial servants.
There will not be a civil war.

Here's what I want to happen:
The Empire falls or stands (both would be equally interesting to me). The Nerevarine isn't dead.
The Dunmer will rise again, but not as Resdayn. They will keep their unique customs and ways, but have long since abolished certain things like slavery.
There will be a civil war. I don't care who wins it, but no one get's utterly destroyed.

I don't think there will be a civil war either, but judging from the novel "The Infernal City" I think most of the provinces will secede; some have already, in fact if not always by law. The Mede dynasty will continue for at least a few generations, but it will be debatable whether they have the backing of the Aedra. The Dunmer will survive, but lose much of their culture; some will eventually return to Morrowind to try to resettle their homeland. Since Attrebus is mentioned as freeing slaves at one point, apparently remnants of slavery will remain but will be the exception instead of the rule.

The Dunmer will not rise again, but if they rise, they no longer will have the same customs and ways that they had before the destruction of Morrowind.
There will not be a civil war [2].

Here's what I want to happen:
The Empire stands. The Nerevarine isn't dead, returns from Akavir.
The Dunmer will rise again with the same (or similar) customs and ways that they had before the destruction of Morrowind.
There will not be a civil war.
