How do I get back into Skyrim?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 4:30 am

So, like any other I couldn't wait to get into Skyrim and get going. I'm currently around level 30, with places like Whiterun/Windhelm/Riften/Winterhold/Morthal explored.

But now I reconsidered re-rolling a new character I visually/conceptually would like to play. But now I find it extremely tough to play through the regions/quests I've completed before. What am I to do?

I also opted to remove the compass/floating quest markers. Also to walk or on horse-back walking. For complete immersion, no fast travel allowed unless done by the game itself in a quest.

Did I play too much and got burned out?

Try RP by incorporating the "Death concept" meaning when you pass away, re-roll a new character...The objective is: "TO SURVIVE"

I understand your dilemma. I would also find it tough having to redo everything... but doesn't a new character build boost new life in the game?
When I get bored doing quests I usually go around exploring, finding new places and raid random dungeons to get my skill levels up and find treasures... and then, while I'm in for a challenge, I provoke some dragons to come and play.

If you're bored at lvl 30, there isn't anything we can say to make you excited about the game again.

I'm on my 2nd character now at level 43, the first one glitched out around lvl 35. I still have barely even touched the main quest, haven't done anything with the civil war. So far this character has focused on the companions and exploring the wild.

I still play because it's fun, and the day it stops being fun I'll stop.

The map becomes too familiar too quickly, and Its either too crowded or too small. We level up too fast or highest level enemies appear too early making us feel like we have reached maximum level far too soon.

You could try starting off with some of the cities you haven't gotten to yet.

Try to do the game and not lvl your alchemy/smithing/enchanting over the actual lvl your char are.

my first one i have done almost all i felt so i did a new one. Only alchemy that is done by him is healing potions, smithing only weapon/gear upgrade (on things I use) enchantment is mainly for frost/fire/shock resistance. And i never started the dragons, so yes a world without dragons lvl 16 and not seen any yet :D btw start at a new town, this one started at markaht (took fast travel wagon outside windhelm or what the fist town is called)

or buy another game.

I know what you mean. Honestly wait until a month after the CK releases. There will be a good amount of mods to bring your interest back. Hopefully ones that fix alot of the emptiness in game.

Play some other games. Arkham City, Assassins Creed Rev for example. Something to keep your mind away from Skyrim

Alchemy feels right its the early levels they fly if you take everything as it comes.

I went back to Morrowind! Although i stopped playing after there actually wasn't much left to do, and finding no motivation to continue my 2nd and 3rd characters.

The great thing about the single player experience is that you can stop playing for a while and then pick the game back up right where you left off. You don't have to worry about keeping up with the level race or raid progression.

Take a break from both the game and the forums until after Christmas. Both will still be here when you get back, and that brief break might rekindle your desire to explore. When you pick the game back up, do it with moderation. Focus on exploration versus completion. Instead of fast travelling to the closest known point to a quest objective, run there from a random city. Stop at caves and forts along the way.

Stay away from it for a while, then come back. It's the only thing that works for me when I lose my motivation for a game.
Don't play it when you're not having fun, that will make the game even worse.

I have re-rolled 5 times while waiting for the next patch upon next patch and every time I do the same areas/quests I find something new.

Walk the 'Grand Journey'-

Solitude down the road by Falkreath to Riften.
Riften north up the road by Windhelm and to Winterhold.
Winterhold west along the North Road back to Solitude.

Find quests, explore dungeons, kill Thalmor. Fun!

Take a break, then get back into it.

That's how I clocked 700 hours into Oblivion without getting bored of it.

That's one issue I have always had with almost every RPG.

I start my first character and play for a while, then I figure out that I picked a couple of wrong perks, attributes, whatever and so I reroll. Then there is no surprise with the new character while move through the initial stages again.

Take advantage of the way TES games are built. You have no reason to go through the same quests at the beginning that you did with your first character. Travel to different places this time and explore different areas. Once you're hours in and invested in this new character, going back to redo any quests you did with the first character will hurt a lot less. Plus, you'll be higher level so those same quests will be rewarding you with better loot.

At least, that works for me. :disguise: I tend to get restartitis as well so I use this approach.
