How to get dragon to spawn with Live Another Life?

Post » Mon Jul 22, 2013 10:14 am

I'm suprised I've not found anyone else with this issue.

Problem is, I want to use Live Another LIfe to skip ahead from the intro and spice up how I start my game, while also not needing to start the mainquest for fun to happen. But Live Another Life does something to completely screw up the dragon spawning system, meaning dragons never spawn unless you specifically start the mainquest via Live another Life and force yourself to play through it till the point they spawn at. Mods like Immediate Dragons do not work, forcing the quests to be completed doesn't work, and changing the gvar for DragonsReturn doesn't work - LaL does something to completely disable them, and its irritating because I'd love to be able to play Skyrim with dragons like normal but not have to be doing the mainquest or do the role of Dovakiin.

Is there any way to get it so Live Another Life spawns dragons? What does it change to force them off, even if I load it before other mods that supposedly make dragon spawning instant?

I don't think you can't do that since spawning dragons only appear after you finish the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dragon_Rising quest, but as soon that quest is finish then you can go out and do whatever you want.

Indeed, that's completely vanilla behaviour.

It is noteworthy that Immediate Dragons, judging from some comments, may or may not work properly for everyone, and that using SetStage can break quests if a vital stage is skipped (the UESP only lists quest stages with journal entries IIRC, and not all important quest stages have journal entries attached, which is how people commonly ruin their savegames with this console command because they're often skipping these stages).

Anyway, in the vanilla game and DLC's, there are only two dragons that I know of that you ever encounter without starting Dragon Rising, one of them being Alduin, and in Dawnguard,

the dragon in the Soul Cairn.

Could be that there's people having issues with stuff like having more mods than their PC's can handle or people having issues with mod conflicts and mod uninstalls. I generally take some of these issues people claim to have with certain mods with a grain of salt, since not all problems are from the mods themselves (although sometimes they can be, such as if stuff like navmeshes were deleted or scripts were poorly written, for examples).

Spoiler
I've yet to complete the College of Winterhold questline myself. I tend to get bored with it after the first main faction quest for some reason.
