How to get into Roland Jenseric's house without trespassing?

Post » Sun Feb 16, 2014 9:29 am

I'm playing a good character and his crime record is completely clean (every crime stat is 0 in the journal :D) and I'd like to keep it that way.

So being a good character, he is led to believe that Seridur's little assignment is the right thing to do... until he finds that he's forced to break into Roland's house in the Temple District.

I know the outcome of this quest; I'd like to eventually kill Seridur and have Roland take over the Order. However I don't like how breaking into Roland's house adds to the trespassing counter, even though I've successfully snuck in without anyone seeing me.

Is there any other clean alternative to doing this? If not, then that's fine, I'll probably moveto Relfina's note out of the house so that I can advance the quest or something really unimmersive like that. :P

If you're doing the quest, you don't need to break in, the door will open automatically when you click on it despite being "Hard" locked. At least that's what happened in my latest playthrough.

You could try things like setting ownership, moveto etc, but I'd be a little worried about breaking the quest. What I would do if concerned about this is simply trespass, then use the command ModPCMiscStat 30 -1. Here, 30 is the trespass stat and -1 reduces the count by one. I note UESP wiki claims this command has been removed from the GOTY version. I don't have GOTY and those misc stats commands work fine for me. Regardless, I'd review the reference link below and form your own determination:

Edit: Actually, I'd consider trying Lopov's idea first. Perhaps save, try, check your stats?

I actually got around my little problem by just setting the Quest Stages appropriately because trying to MoveTo Relfina's letter didn't work.

At any rate, thank you Acadian for that console command - I actually found out (waaay after ending this quest) that I have 1 Assault... apparently lobbing a fireball at a vampire in Memorial Cave while he hasn't yet detected you counts as an assault!? That was sneaky. >:(

ModPCMiscStat actually worked on my Steam GOTY copy to reset my Assault stat. :D Cheers!
