How do I get my money back?

Post » Sat Feb 20, 2010 2:07 pm

Wow, what a complete pile of dog **** this release has turned out to be.

I don't even know where to begin, I thought Steam would release it at 12:01 am today... I stayed up late so I could start the download while I slept - boy was I wrong. They released it at 8 am, about 2 hours after I start work so I couldnt download it till afterwork. I would have been better off buying a copy on my way home, because I may have had a better chance at returning that.

So far, I can't play online - my serial code is in use... f*cking awesome

My "Limited Edition" Code doesn't work, makes the whole prepay thing kinda f*cking useless as well?

Thanks Crytek and Steam, for wasting my time and my money.

The majority of your anger is derived from steam's release time...which was posted on the crysis sub page on your steam account...all you had to do was do a little math to find out that it was released at 8 am.

You didn't expect registration problems on day 1 of release? Have you ever played day 1 of any game?

Steam almost NEVER releases game at midnight... usually 8 or 10 pacific time day of release. Its your fault for thinking midnight would be the release. GOing on steam and checking Crysis2 page would have shown you how long till it was released on steam.

Starcraft 2 was the most recent, picked it up at future shop for a midnight release, was online and playing bug free within an hour....

Yeah, Blizzard would not have screwed the pooch THIS bad. Single player is fun, but I am more than a little annoyed that my gamesas.com credentials do not log me into the multiplayer part of the game. Especially since my pre-order is now connected to that email account.... POOOOOOOOR QUUUUUEEE!!!!!?????

Since steam is not responding to my support request regarding the "Limited Edition" issue's I'm doing a chargeback.

I recommend any else who paid by credit card or paypal file suit as well, this is complete and utter ****.

Initiating a chargeback for a steam purchase will result in your steamID being locked, and losing access to any other games tied to the account. Steam tends to respond to tickets within 48 hours, but can take up to five business days.

Ya, I was about to say this. Besides, even if they do respond all they will say is contact EA since there is nothing they can do.

If you are assertive, and haven't had too many refunds before they will do it for you, especially if it's not working.

Sounds like bully tactics, if that's how they want to do business - then they won't be doing anymore with me :)

Chargebacks aren't supposed to be a first-option here. They're a last ditch effort when all options have not worked. Crysis 2 has been out for two days. You submitted a ticket to Steam LAST NIGHT and haven't gotten a reply in nothing less than 24 hours.

You're not only being impatient, but childish. Sure you can choose not to do business with Steam, but expecting a 24-hour response time from Steam is unrealistic, especially when accounts that are compromised tend to have to be dealt with a higher priority.

The thought crossed my mind, but I'd probably just get stuck in the lobby...

If you bought it on PC then you have ZERO chance of a refund. Steam does not do refunds, ever. I've never heard of them once giving a refund. Am just as pissed as everyone else, but I give up. Am done with these half ass game companies. It's horrible that multiplayer simply does not work. HALF the game does not work. I wonder how the console kiddies are doing.. am so close to just giving up on PCs all together, they're dead for gaming.

..back to StarCraft 2 I guess.. Blizzard, the last company you can rely on.. stay strong Blizzard.. stay strong

If I buy something and it doesn't work, I return it.

What do you do? drop your pants and bend over?

A charge back isn't the first option, its the ONLY option. If you buy something electronically and it doesn't work and the company has a strict NO REFUND policy....what do you do?

Chargebacks are not the first and only option in this scenario. Submit your ticket, explain why you want a refund, be assertive but appropriate.

^great post

It's not even about the money, I can piss away $60 in about 5 minutes. It's about principal. SC 2 had a ton of hype - and it delivered. Sure the release date was pushed several times. They took the road less traveled and opted to make a quality product and not the quick cash grab.
