How do I get Morrowind to play my native resolution and use

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 2:42 am

I just installed Morrowind GOTY on my new laptop, but I can't get a resolution higher than 1024 x 768, and I can't select my graphics card from the Options Menu, all that's available is Intel HD Graphics Family.

My dedicated graphics card is Nvidia GeForce GT 525M
My native resolution is 1366 x 768, so I'm not getting a very good horizontal setting as is.

Is there some fix for this?

Install MGE, which stands for Morrowind Graphics Extended. It'll let you change your resolution at least. Not sure what your other problem is.

Install MGE 3.8.0.

You can find it in the Morrowind Nexus.

I can't even open the files from MGE. I can't even get a free trial of Winrar. I guess I'm SOL...

Edit: Nevermind, I got it open with 7-Zip.

If your laptop has nVidia Optimus (Hybrid graphics solution; nVidia and Intel IGP). To use the nvidia graphics chipset you'll need to configure it you use it with the nVidia control panel. You can manually set an application to use the nVidia chipset.

Granted, Morrowind is CPU driven so the Intel HD Graphics chipset is most likely enough to run Morrowind, although it could have graphical bugs due to weaker device drivers.
