How to get new meshes for creatures in the game?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 9:59 pm

I am a moddler and a game developer and I can't figure out how to get the new meshes I made for my new creatures into the tes construction with all parts showing up and textured. Can anyone help?

Does the body mesh need a skeleton in it?

Yes. Every creature or NPC needs a skeleton, properly rigged to a body.

So the skeleton has to be rigged inside the body and you need a seperate skeleton mesh?

Yes, as explained in the tutorials linked above.

Perhaps you should explain what you've done and how you did it, and then perhaps we can give you better answers to why your creature isn't working. If this is the same "mountain lion" you made who's body isn't showing up, then an inproperly rigged mesh is probably the reason.

One of the best creature-modders out there is Waalx, and his critters are all modified bodies rigged to vanilla skeletons. In fact, the http://waalx.com/RealSwordsForum/index.php is probably a good place to look for assistance on that. If nothing else, looking at his creatures may show you what's missing.

I am a moddler
Wha...?

Seriously though, glad to see there's still some creature modeling work going on. Some of the stock animals (dogs/wolves, bears, boars, etc.) could use a LOT more diversification, for example.
