How do I get out of the Soul Cairn? : V

I just got my soul essence gem back but the way out seems to be blocked by a force field. Is this normal and if so, what do I do?

You're not looking at the right area. You go out the same way you go in.

Follow the paths back the way you came. When you get closer, you can see the stairway you came down, rising into the sky.
