How to get these games?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:22 pm

I'm after any and all of the TES Travels games...but how on earth do you get them? I can't find anywhere to download them. Also, is it possible to run them on a computer? That'd be much preferrable to my phone to be honest. :P What kind of phone do you need to run them, do I NEED an N-Gage?

Shadowkey only works on the N-Gage, and that's easily the best of the 4 mobile games and the only one I can recommend playing, but buying a N-Gage to just play one game is a bit stupid (even though that's exactly what I did myself :P). The other 3 are java games and should work on the majority of mobile phones out there, but frankly, they aren't particulary good so if you can't find them it's no big loss.

Not to mention that they are very old, Stormhold and Dawnstar are over 6 years old now so finding them may be very hard and mobile phones and mobile phones have evolved a lot since then.

And there's really no point in playing Oblivion mobile either as it's rather poor and the main game for PC/360/PS3 is so extremely much better.

Stormhold and Dawnstar look like...I don't know what. Tile-based dungeon crawlers wherein the sprites aren't even animated - like a turn based RPG.

I have to get ahold of Shadowkey, though. Can't say I'm enough of a fan of yours to emulate your consumer taste, Freddo, but sometimes I do consider getting ahold of an N-Gage just to play it. Reminds me of Daggerfall. :)

I bought those two from MSN.se years ago, but since then they stopped to sell them. Anyway, they play like Eye of the Beholder and those games released around 1990, but you just control one person instead of a party. So they are not turnbased. I never had patience to play them very far, though, so those $15 were just wasted ($7.5 for each was way overpriced too).

Hehe, yeah, I had hoped that Vir2L would have recompiled the game and just re-release it when Nokia tried their second N-Gage platform (all they would need to do is to recompile the game to Symbian 9.x OS instead of using the old Symbian 6.x OS), that way a lot of people would have been able to play the game without spending money on tracking it down an ancient device and a hard to get game. But now it's too late for that, the second N-Gage platform will be shut down next year too, although I guess Vir2L could re-release it on the Ovi Store instead (Nokias answer to the iPhone App Store).

Do you have any other game to try and see if the N-Gage can play that? You got any MMC memcard reader for your computer? You could check the game card that way, I think.

Well that's a shame, I don't think I really want an N-Gage. At all. Especially conisdering I have my PSP.
If the other two are Java, can they be run on a computer? Surely...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N-Gage or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N-Gage_QD are the only two devices that can run Shadowkey.

I have a few spare copies of Shadowkey if anyone's lucky enough to get a working ngage. Both of mine have died. :(

Awww, that's sad :(

Mine still work, but it spends most of the time in the closet being off. The only times I take it out is when I want to play Shadowkey, which I can't say happen that often anymore.

Sure wish I could have play Shadowkey on my current Nokia phone too (http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/devices/nokia-e52), though. Despite being slim and relatively small, it's still rather powerful and Quake II runs very well on it.

There's some powerful beasties out there in mobile land. Where's the TES games? Wouldn't it be a good idea to have some little "prequal" games out there to get everyone interested in TES V?
Little "webisodes" dealing with some small events that lead up to the main game?

Assuming there IS a TES V. ;)

I can't imagine they'd abandon TES. There's got to be something in the works. :)
