how good are magic and meelee in late game

im strarting a new toon but i dont know whats beter late game magic or a 2h axe

Magic: Destruction is super crappy, everything else is ok (AKA works as intended)
Melee: 2H is ok, Sword and shield is overpowered, dual wielding is WTF overpowered.
