Hey guys,

Can anyone give me some guidlines for hacking into the computers in the game? I'm not sure I entirely understand how that screen works. At first I thought that you selected a word... and then the computer told me how many of the letters were in the actual password. This does not seem to be the case though, as multiple times now I've had the computer give me contradictory information about what letters appear in the word.

Am I missing something here?

Also, other than just allowing me to access to the computer terminals, does the science skill help me crack the code in any way? Does it do anything else later in the game?

Science does help, but not with the password. When the computer says 4/9 words correct, those 4 of the words are in a correct order. For example you'll get words like abandoned, abandoner, actuality if the correct answer was abandoned and you pick actuality it will say 1/9 words correct, if you picked abandoner it would say 8/9 words are correct. sometimes it takes awhile but sometimes you need to go into a computer to open doors, and its very useful for a part in the main quest

I actually just choose the 1st 3 words on the list and hope one of them is the password. If not I close the computer and start it back up and do the same thing making sure not to crash it with the 4th wrong word. You can get into a computer usualy between 2-8 tries depending.

Pick a word and however many letters are correctly placed are displayed. If the password is 'stop' and you choose 'crop', that would be 2/4 as the o and p were correct just like if you chose 'snip' as the s and p are right. You can eliminate most as possibilities that way and check possible passwords against the most correct attempt you've made that go at it. If you get the message that lockdown is imminent, back out and start over. The science skill only determines which PC's you can try to hack.

That's not true. With a higher science skill you get less passwords to pick from too.
