How to help avoid a rocky start for Brink? XBOX 360

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 3:58 am

Alright....first things first. This is only for Xbox players. I don't think PC guys like us anyway. J/K LOL. But honestly I have been promoting this game to my buddies on my friends list. They all love FPS multiplayer chaos. SOOOOO when Homefront first came out that opening week we had to deal with server issues. Games not connecting or games taking a long time to start and being laggy when they did start up. I want to help make Brink initial week make a better impression. They are a little sour about Homefart they are a little shaky about getting into games that don't work right. Giving that Brink is HEAVY MULTIPLAYER it HAS to work right out the box. We didn't have any beta's on Xbox. So is there anything else I can do to help make this start the best start ever?

Any suggestions would be appreciative. Just to be clear I do realize that testing for this many people logging on to a server for the first time can be shaky and it is not really any way to test for those kind of numbers with out doing a beta but it may be something I could do. Just I been pushin these guys to spend the money to get the game and would hate for it not to work on day one.

Splash Damage has a day one patch that they are doing for 360 only that is fixing a few problems including a small network issue (from what I heard at least) I don't think Brink should have a problem being played on 360.

Off topic: I'm a PC player but I like 360 players. I have one too lol.

Blasphemer!

I kid, while I don't own any consoles (gamepads hurt my hands) I certainly don't have any problems with XBox 360 or PS3 gamers . . . honestly those consoles are practically computers anyhow. A smooth release certainly is important for Brink, however I don't think they would have moved the release date up if they weren't quite confident about it. Granted it's hard to simulate tens of thousands of people jumping on to play in the first 24 hours!

Thanks Ram. Good news. Hate it when I get excited about a game when it first comes out and it blows due to network issues and not the game being bad.

I agree we must start promoting brink more on xbox! none of my friends knew about it before! This worries me as the game might not have that large of a "community" We must all do what we can to inform everyone about brink and I believe if it gets popular it will be the next big thing!!

Apparently the patch at the beginning is for the problems Splash Damage has found after they've already shipped the game, (just rumours for now).

Anyway, as for the topic question, since you and your friends will all be playing you could do some practice with teamwork and planning, as I do, using the Enemy Territories: Quake Wars demo (Unless you have the game, then just do some instant action with your friends), it has the same classes, and its heavy on objective based games. The demo only has 1 map, but you can play stopwatch and play both offense and defense. However, thats just my opinion.

JUSTIN I reallly agree with you. Last week I was like "Brink is coming out soon. Are you getting it" and they was like "...........BRINK???? Whats that". And I am talking about hardcoe FPS/3RDPS players. So I started discribing it and they remembered seeing something about it last year but really didn't know much about. So I have been promoting the game ever since to them. SD should pay me LOLOLOL. But honestly can we at least get the "GET SMART" series on XBOX LIVE. It would help out so much.

While you can't really prove that Brink will have a good start until the first week or two of release have gone by, you can use the number of preorders to help convince some of your friends. I don't have a link for the site and I can't remember the exact number of 360 preorders but it was somewhere in the range of 100k. A quick search should clear it up for you.

It sounds like you will be able to easily play with AI if the online matchmaking isn't working properly. Every reviewer says that the AI are really hard to tell apart from human players, but then again, they are reviewers, and I don't trust them at all. Even so, I reckon that the AI will be better than any other game I care to name (*cough cough* Shadowrun).

I am the opposite, I think controllers are more comfortable, but I've only played PC games on a standard keyboard. For all of you who like the keyboard better, do you use a standard one or do you use a special type of keyboard. I ask because I'd be more apt to play PC games if it didn't hurt my left wrist so much.

This.

It's very hard transitioning from game pad to mouse and keyboard for me as well. I also cant find a comfortable position to play for hours on a laptop otherwise half of my game purchases would be on the one I use for collage. I must have a herniated disc from my year long addiction to WoW. :sadvaultboy:

Homefront was a THQ game and they don′t have a single game out there that is working correct! I don′t see problems coming up. Some fine tweaks may be but thats ok.
