How do I increase Magicka using enchantments?

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 5:45 am

OK I have got like 5 or 6 Sigil stones but none of them have a magicka effect. I really need to increase my Magicka effect because I need to gain access to the prison so I can murder that guy who was being a jerk to you in the beginning of the game. I don't have any lock-picks and I don't know where to buy anymore lock-picks so I need to gain more Magicka. SO can someone give me a tutorial for dumb kids on how to enchant something so I can have enough magicka. The spell is unlock hard locks. It cost 180 magicka. I have searched how on google but I just don't understand how. help pl0x???

Hard Locks requires 75 Alteration skill to cast in the first place. At that stage it should be cheaper to cast. Any Fortify Intelligence spell effects or Fortify Magika will work. You can occasionally find gear that boosts Magika from random drops as well. For Sigil Stones, find an open gate and work your way to the stone. Save BEFORE you pick it up. The stone you get isn't decided until you interact with it. So if it's not a Fortify Magika stone, reload and try again until it is.
To get in otherwise, there's the Skeleton Key (unbreakable lockpick with +40 Security) from Nocturnal's Deadric Quest. Regular lockpicks can be obtained from Armand Christophe of the Thieves Guild in Imperial City.

To start it, go see http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Nocturnal. For the Gates, from what I've gathered, 60 is the most that will open, 10 are scripted, the remaining 50 will open randomly at http://www.uesp.net/maps/obmap/obmap.shtml?locx=13748&locy=22064&zoom=11&search=A%20Gate%20to%20Oblivion http://www.uesp.net/maps/obmap/obmap.shtml?locx=13748&locy=22064&zoom=11&search=a%20gate%20to%20oblivion&startsearch=50, how many at once are dependent on where you are in the Main Quest.

Another tip for you. Save before you take the Sigil stone inside Oblivion. If, once you've taken the stone and the gates collapsed, you're unhappy with it you can just reload. The Stones are 100% random when you take them!

You can also buy lockpicks from Shady Sam. You do not need to be in the Thieves Guild to do so either. He can be found outside the Imperial City walls. Just go out the Talos Plaza gate and turn right. Hug the wall and you will eventually find him, past the stable.
