How to install mods for Steam version of Morrowind

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 6:56 am

i've recently downloaded and installed Morrowind off of Steam and I want to install Overhaul on it. I've heard you have to change the dates on you Morrowind files so they don't keep overwriting any mods with earlier dates on them. how do i go about this and which folder do i put any other mods into?

i've had a bit of a look around and can't really find anything specific to the Steam version. the instructions on the Overhaul website are alright but still kind of confusing. so if anyone can help out someone who is completly new to PC gaming and modding that would be great.

cheers.

Huh, never heard of doing that. I installed it on the Steam version and it works perfectly.. o.o Why not just try it and see if it works? That's what I did. I had no idea what I was doing, I just followed the installer's instructions. It's basically nearly 100% automated, it does all the work for you (literally, it's creepy to see it, it disables your mouse and clicks stuff for you, no joke!).

You'll find a link to an app that can redate the BSAs in the first paragraph.

I'm sorry you're having problems with the download. If it is the Morrowind Sound and Graphics Overhaul by kingpix, you may find the answer to your issue http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1319942-relz-morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics-20/ and if not, please post your question/issue http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1339035-relz-morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics-20/. Kingpix has been away due to R/L concerns, and sadly his server is down, however, many people have the complete set if you are still unable to d/l part four.

Quick reply, spread this as much as you can (I've got only a few minutes).

Here's a mirror of the full and updated package.
See ya soon I hope.

I'll be glad if someone can post this in the main thread of MGSO, too. Thanks.

Another thing that could prevent you for installing mods into a Steam version of Morrowind could also be related to the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/781497-vistawindows-7-problems/ of the Steam Client.

Select options in the morrowind launcher and turn off pixel shaders.

Thanks for that. I got it running and now it's running as slow as all hell. So I think I have to uninstall everything and just play vanilla. I would have thought a brand new laptop would have been able to handle it but apparently not.

You probably installed with all the highest graphics settings. You can back those off without uninstalling everything.

yeah i tried but it didn't make much of a difference. i figure it's ok and that i should probably play vanilla for a while longer before i go and change everything anyway.

Off-topic, and I am sorry about that, but I thought I should mention it here anyway, since he posted here... I'm not sure if you actually tried the download, Elaura, but it is giving me an error when I try. It's not in English, so I'm not completely positive, but I believe it requires a registration... which is very difficult for us English-only speakers on a non-English site, of course.

Dang. Unfortunately, if it's broken on Kingpix's side, we'll have to wait until he pops back in again.
