How do I know a MOD is working?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 11:11 am

Greetings folks,

I've done a fresh install of Oblivion, QT3, and OOO 1.3f. I can see the QT3 textures and was wondering how do I know the OOO is working? I've selected all the necessary MODS in the launcher. There was a message about "Prices Set" and something else that I can't remember. I also started a new quest and I'm at the point where I got out of the sewers.

Is there some why to know it's working and that all OOO features are available?

Thanks for any input you have.

If you installed the Living Economy component of OOO, then the "Prices are set" message should be from that. If you don't see floating exclamation points etc., chances are you've installed it correctly.

Try out sideways cave near the prison exit. Let us know what you find in the inner sanctum. You'll know you have OOO if you die trying ;) And if you keep your eyes open, you might find a way to get past a certain obstacle too. A sharp way...

Having an auto-torch hotkey should be a good indicator as well, but the main indicator for me if a chest lid goes up or a sack turns when being opened. That I've never seen outside of OOO.

I checked and have the auto-torch hotkey. So that's a good indicator. I also noticed that when I open a barrel the lid slides over and then off. I don't remember seeing that animation before.

I went into the Sideways Cave but couldn't get very far. Perhaps a couple hundred feet. Maybe four Imps before I was killed. Did that used to be an easy cave?

If it is hard then it means OOO is working. You should notice an increased difficulty and maybe creatures you have never seen before. The torch hotkey and the barrel lid sliding sounds like OOO is working properly.

Vilverin accross from the tutorial exit is possibly the best dungeon to test your install. New items, armours and enemies will appear if it's working as designed.
I suggest securing a save before you enter, then running through it with Godmode (console tgm).
 On the lower level you'll encounter some spectrals that below level 15 should prove more than a little difficult.

Then try it for real.
