How do we know the Screenshots are not the PC version?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 6:06 pm

This may be a silly question, but how do we know that the screenshots already available are not of the PC version? I haven't been keeping up on the news, so i really don't know if it was confirmed or not that it was the 360 version. If it has been confirmed as 360, it seems rather silly to me though, why would a company release an image with a lower resolution as a showcase first look piece?

because more people will buy it on 360 than on PC and if they show images from the PC version the people who buy it for the 360 will go THEY LIED! IT DOESN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THAT!

all the footage of Crysis 2 they've shown so far was from the 360, too. it's like this for most games now.

All i know is that they stated on twitter or something that the new trailer (with the in game scenes) was completely shot from playing on an Xbox360. I have no clue where the pictures we had before the video were shot from though.

And i also think it's quite weird that they shoot their trailer on an inferior device :s.

games are build from low to high, it′s the reason when you look at any games screenshots, the first ones look very low res compared to the later ones.

I believe Bethesda stated they were the Xbox 360 version, though I don't have a quote I can link to. As to why, I'd imagine it's because since the console players likely represent a larger potential market for the game than the PC version, Bethesda wanted to focus their advertisemant the game to them by releasing console screenshots.

Yes it was confirmed that every that's been shown has been off the 360 build. And even though console resolution is getting closer to pc, it's still a bit of a gap. I think it's kind of a way of saying 'this is the minimum amount of quality that you'll be getting, no matter what platform you use.' I mean, imagine that most people will get it for console. Even though there's still 9 months, what if the console people are thinking '...this isnt what i thought i was getting!'

It's just smarter that way, really.

Except I'd say it isn't really the minimum amount of quality we'll see regardless of what platform is used. While the PC version might look somewhat better on the highest settings, I doubt it will be significantly so. And if you play it on the lowest settings possible, I'm sure it will look a lot worse than anything we've seen in the trailer or any of the screenshots. Although using console screenshots DOES show a consistent graphical standard between screenshots that is what many of Bethesda's players will see.
